Chapter 22: The Younger Sister’s Pointed Observation

[Daisaku Katsuragi’s PoV].
Well then.
I have no idea what’s going to happen with Kazunari. I really don’t. In my case, when my girlfriend cheated on me, she just left with the guy she cheated with, and that was that. Honestly, I don’t even understand why Maya is so fixated on Kazunari.
At the very least, due to the affair, it's possible that Maya realized Kazunari's worth and now loves him more than before. Even so, cheating after getting married is unquestionably Maya’s fault. Still, I think they should face each other again.
I do understand that Kazunari can’t forgive the infidelity. But then again, in my case, when my cheating girlfriend clung to me, begging not to break up, there were times I wanted to give it another try. After all, I probably had my own faults, like taking her for granted.
“…Onii-chan, you look awful. Did something bad happen?”
Oops.
While I was deep in thought in the dining room after dinner, my younger sister Mari, concerned, called out to me.
……
She was deeply hurt when her boyfriend cheated on her, and although she hasn’t fully recovered from her mistrust of men, she’s finally starting to act normal again recently.
“…Yeah. Actually…”
Maybe now I can ask her.
………..
………
……
“…Onii-chan, I think your thinking is too naive.”
“Heh?”
So, I carefully and thoroughly explained the situation to her, trying not to trigger any flashbacks. I asked for her opinion.
And she completely shot down my idea.
“Why? Whether they break up or not, shouldn’t they face each other once more and reach a conclusion without looking away? Otherwise, they won’t be able to move on.”
“…That’s naive. Normally, that might be the case.”
Mari emphasized the word “normally,” and I didn’t understand what she meant by that.
“So, you’re saying the two people in question aren’t normal? Is that what you mean, Mari?”
“Not the two of them… it’s the woman who cheated who isn’t normal.”
“Hmm? What do you mean?”
I still didn’t get it. I urged her to explain further, and Mari began to speak slowly, choosing her words carefully.
“You see, if someone feels that they are the most loved by their partner, normally, they wouldn’t cheat. If they have time to cheat, they would rather return the love they’ve received from their partner.”
“……”
“Of course, if there’s a problem with the partner and they don’t feel loved, or if there’s some understandable reason, they might cheat with someone who treats them well.”
“……”
“But from what you told me, that man loved his wife wholeheartedly, right? And yet she cheated.”
“……That’s right.”
“If she was deceiving everyone and thought, ‘My husband’s love is too much, I want to escape,’ then it would make sense that she cheated. But if that’s not the case…”
“That’s not the case. Even now, she’s insisting, ‘You’re the most important person to me,’ and no matter how much she’s blamed, she won’t divorce him.”
“Then, that woman is probably a ‘person you can’t understand.'”
“……”
That might be true.
Returning the love you receive from someone who loves you is natural. If you receive a lot of love from someone you love, you’d be too busy returning that love to even think about cheating.
So, someone who cheats while feeling loved and loving their partner is either lying somewhere or is a type of person that ordinary people can’t understand.
That’s what Mari is saying.
“If that’s the case, facing someone you can’t understand again won’t help, because you fundamentally can’t understand them. Considering other possibilities, I think the husband would only be more devastated.”
“……”
“If that husband wants a divorce, it’s best to do it quickly.”
“But if they divorce without understanding each other, won’t he just carry this issue forever…?”
“That’s not true. Whether he understands or not, the husband will carry it forever. Cheating is a sin with a deep impact.”
“……”
I couldn’t argue back.
Was I wrong?
I thought I was doing it for Kazunari’s sake. Was I just pushing him further into a corner?

finally common sense
Yes, while you're at it little sis.. Break your brother's knee cap so he can stop appearing in mc's life..
The general idea of the chapter is well understood, but there are some confusing things.
Was the sister cheated on by her girlfriend or her boyfriend?
The chapter begins being narrated by Mari, but in a moment and without any pause, suddenly it is the MC who is narrating.
In the last sentence, where it says "Kazunari", shouldn't it say "Maya"?
Can't take this seriously, there's like 4 charcters in this story who cheated/got cheated on and it's only been 22 chapters rofl. mc got cheated on by his wife, wife got cheated on by her ex, mc's friend got cheated on and his sister also got cheated on.
Thank you!
Common sense characters are the best
