Chapter 95: I Don’t Want a Harem Development
As the awkward silence lingered, the front door opened again.
I thought it was finally Kenzaki-san, but…
“Ange? You said you'd be right back, so I waited outside, but you've been…?”
It was my mom. Expectations shattered. This kind of development pleases no one. The Spring Festival still hasn't started, and readers are getting impatient.
“What's with this harem situation?”
“I have my reasons! And it’s not some harem fantasy!”
My exasperation didn’t reach my clueless mom, and her observation was so absurd that I reflexively snapped back.
Anyway, I should at least introduce her.
“This blonde ringlet granny is my stepmom, Uemura Bianchi Christina. Call her Bian or Chris, whatever.”
Before I finished, she slapped me on the head.
“Ouch!”
“You need to show more respect to your guardian!”
Kurebayashi-san and Kojima-san, facing my possibly angry mom, were taken aback. Despite her shock, Kurebayashi-san seemed to understand the position of this “blonde foreigner.” An introduction was in order.
“This is my stepmother, Christina Uemura-Bianchi. You can call her Bian or Chris.”
Mom immediately slapped me on the head.
“Ouch!”
“You should show some respect to your guardian!”
Kurebayashi-san and Kojima-san exchanged glances, their expressions serious. Despite her brief relationship with me, Kurebayashi-san has never visited my home before. But I remember venting to my mom about her by name, tearfully.
So, mom probably…
“I’m Kurebayashi Mii. Yuuta has always been very kind to me.”
“Oh, so you’re the Kurebayashi-san who dumped Yuuta in middle school.”
“Guh!”
Mom knew. She dealt a blow to Kurebayashi-san, and I felt a bit better.
“Just kidding. I've heard a lot about you from Yuuta, including how kind you and your mother have been. Thank you.”
“Oh, uh, sure…”
Mom's playful nature left Kurebayashi-san shrinking, like a loaned cat. Well, I don't care. My only task is to set up a meeting with Kenzaki-san. Kurebayashi-san’s state isn't specified.
After a few twists and turns, our first contact with Kurebayashi-san concluded. Then, Kojima-san hesitantly addressed Mom.
“Um, about yesterday… I'm really sorry.”
Oh, that's the Kojima-san I know.
It's unclear what she meant, but she seemed to be returning to her usual self.
“Ah, you must be Kojima-san. You also dumped Yuuta in high school, right? Surrounded by his exes, Yuuta is quite pitiful, don't you think?”
“Ugh!”
Mom’s harsh words hit Kojima-san, who seemed shaken from yesterday's events. Mom, give her a break before she does something drastic.
“Just kidding. It looks like things went well yesterday. I’m glad my advice to call Yuuta worked out.”
“Y-yes, thanks to you.”
No one can beat a chatty blonde foreigner, and mom quickly took control. Now, we have two loaned cats.
“Seriously? Even Kurebayashi-san was with my brother. Was I the only one who didn’t know?”
Meanwhile, Ange looked like she was falling into darkness. Not knowing about Kurebayashi-san being my girlfriend had taken a toll.
I wanted to reassure Ange that there were no romantic ties now, but given my upcoming date with Kurebayashi-san for a group date, I couldn’t.
Dealing with a sulking Ange would be a hassle. I needed to explain things to her later to keep my sanity. I had no ulterior motives towards my exes, and I hoped Ange would understand.
For the sake of the group date!
I mentally repeated the importance of the group date twice.
Ding dong.
“Please, come in.”
Hoping it was finally Kenzaki-san, I responded to the intercom.
“Excuse me… What's this, planning a harem?”
The person I'd been waiting for had arrived, but her first words were so surreal.
“No way!!”
“Asuka-nee…”
“KYOKO? What are you doing here?”
“Another pest…”
“Yuuta attracts so many beautiful women.”
I won't bother explaining who said what. I'm mentally exhausted.
Anyway, it's probably best to leave Kurebayashi-san and Kenzaki-san alone. The rest of us should exit.
