Chapter 12 – Is There a Limit to the Girlfriend Gacha?

As I contemplate my future, I can’t help but reflect on my past.

From elementary school to middle school, I had one BSS card. In middle school and high school, I was dealt one NTR card each. If this trend continues, I’m afraid I’ll encounter more NTR cards in college. I can’t help but wonder if there’s a Yandere, Tsundere, or DereDere in my girlfriend’s gacha. Perhaps I should sue the Consumer Affairs Agency for false advertising.

But if I keep pulling the girlfriend gacha, maybe I’ll hit the jackpot and pull that fated top-tier card. However, in the worst-case scenario, I might never reach the jackpot and just get the game-over message for life.

I decide it’s best to avoid getting involved with the KKK (Kimukurekoji) in college and invest in a new girlfriend gacha instead. But, somehow, even if I don’t want to get involved, they might still come my way.

The next morning, I headed over to the university office to retract my withdrawal letter. However, I ran into an unexpected encounter.

“Hey, Yuuta-kun, good morning! So, like, you seemed kind of off yesterday; anything happen?”

“Good morning, Kimura-san. Are you still firing on all cylinders today?”

Kimura-san seems completely lost as to what I’m talking about. But I have more important things to do than get involved in this conversation.

“I have to go. I’ll see you later.”

“Wait, where are you going? We have the department curriculum explanation starting soon.”

“Curriculum or whatever, I don’t care. I’ve got stuff to do before that,” I reply.

“Oh, then I’ll come with you. We still have time, and since we’ve miraculously run into each other, let’s hang out like we did back in elementary school!” 

Kimura-san is undeniably cute. Her hairstyle has changed since then, now sporting a short cut that covers her ears, but her fundamental cuteness hasn’t changed. And I’ve always thought this, but Kimura-san can be quite straightforward and suggestive, which is probably why even the tough delinquent senior didn’t hold back with a deep kiss.

However, what bothers me is all the rumors that followed her during our junior high school days, like her skipping school or doing sugar daddy stuff. I can’t really blame her for betraying me or anything like that since she didn’t go that far, but the rumors still bother me.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and a guilty person won’t get a rise out of me.

Despite my instant contemplation of such complicated matters, the word “miraculous” just rubs me the wrong way. If you ask me why, it’s just a vague gut feeling.

But Kimura-san doesn’t seem to notice my discomfort and clings to my arm like we’re old pals.

“Hey, where are you off to?” she asks eagerly.

“…Student office.”

“Ah, right! We’ve got plenty of time to spare, right? Wanna go together?”

“Arm.”

“Huh? Oh! Sorry, sorry! I just got so excited to see you that I ended up clinging to you!”

“Erm…”

“…Was that annoying?”

I hesitate for a second, debating whether to say it out loud or not.

“Not really.”

Well, BSS is definitely better than NTR by a mile anyway.
