Chapter 10 – Molester-Cop, Over Here!
As I turned the doorknob, I mumbled to myself, “I wonder if Mom sent me a package.”
The door creaked open, and instead of a delivery, I was met with a navy blue uniform.
“Too bad~,” a playful voice chimed in. “It’s not a delivery—it is I, the police(Omawari-san desu~)!”
Startled, I slammed the door shut in an instant, locking it tight to keep any trouble out.
“H-Hey, wait a minute!” the voice protested.
“I’m not dealing with some pervert cosplayer dressed up at this hour. Leave!” I snapped, my guard up.
“No, no, wait, it’s a misunderstanding! I just got carried away when I saw your face. Sorry!” he pleaded. His excuse sounded more like something a molester would say when caught than a police officer. From that moment on, he would be “Molester-cop(Osowari-man)” in my head.
Reluctantly, I cracked the door open just a sliver, keeping the chain securely in place. My instincts screamed at me to slam the door shut again, and I followed their guidance.
“Aww, come on!” he complained.
“If you’re a real cop, show me some ID or something!” I demanded.
“I can’t show you anything with the door closed like this,” he pointed out. He had a point. With a resigned sigh, I opened the door a bit more. The police officer let out a relieved chuckle as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his badge.
“There, now you can see my police ID. Happy?” he asked.
The ID looked legitimate, but I was still wary. I should’ve checked the intercom first. If I knew this would be such a hassle, I would’ve just pretended not to be home. I couldn’t recall doing anything that would warrant a police visit, but with my mother giving out my address to who knows who, I decided it was best to stay on high alert.
“If you’ve got nothing to hide, mind letting us in? Just a few questions,” the cop said. With that, I sighed and opened the door all the way, revealing not one, but two officers who looked like they were in their 30s.
Great, just what I needed—double trouble.
“So, you’re Kamimura Yuuta-san, right?” the molester-cop asked.
“Yeah, that’s me. What’s up?” I replied, deciding to cooperate to avoid any further trouble with the neighbors.
“Alright, here’s the deal. This morning, there was an incident near the main gate of the university you attend. A girl collapsed and was taken away in an ambulance,” the officer explained, his voice tinged with concern.
“Oh yeah, I remember seeing the ambulance when I was on my way to the university,” I said, trying to be helpful.
“The girl they took wasn’t in any real danger, but when she woke up, she just kept saying, ‘I have to apologize to Yuuta-kun, to Kamimura Yuuta-kun,'” the molester-cop said, keeping an eye on my reaction.
“Huh?! Hold on a second, why is my name coming up in this?!” I exclaimed, taken aback.
“Do you know a female college student named Kurebayashi Mii-san?” the officer asked.
“Nope, I never heard of her. She’s a total stranger,” I replied, keeping it simple and honest.
“Don’t give us that! Why would she be saying your name if you don’t know her?” the molester-cop pressed.
“Maybe it’s just a weird coincidence with names,” I suggested.
“You said earlier that having someone else with the same name would be a problem! We’re not buying it. The evidence is stacking up against you!” he accused.
“Don’t start throwing around accusations, you wacky cop! What’s your name? I’ll call your boss and file a complaint as a law-abiding citizen!” I shot back, getting irritated.
“Let’s all just calm down. I’m just trying to make sure there’s nothing funny business going on,” the molester-cop quickly changed his tone.
“Ugh, this guy’s attitude did a total 180,” I grumbled quietly, getting more annoyed by the minute. The other cop just stood there like a statue, not saying a word. It felt like it was just me versus “Molester-Cop.”
Yelling at each other seemed like the right move at that moment. Then, out of nowhere, the door to the neighbor’s place swung open.
“Could you guys keep it down?! What time do you think it is?! It’s the middle of the night, for crying out loud! Show some respect for the neighbors!” The neighbor barked.
“Yo, Kouichi-kun~.”
Kouichi, my neighbor who lives next door, popped out to complain but quickly dashed back inside. Talk about unexpected drama—a real-life soap opera!
“Ah, speaking of which, there’s this guy Koichi (temporary name) who lives in the room next door, and the woman who comes to stay over at his place keeps shouting ‘Koichi!! Koichi!! Ahh!!’ every night, which is really noisy. Isn’t this a disturbance to the neighborhood?” I blurted out, dragging Koichi’s sex life into the conversation.
“Well, leaving that aside, we’re not here to meddle in personal matters, so sort out your own grudges, jealousy, envy, or whatever,” the Molester-Cop said.
“So, you’re just gonna brush me off like that?”
“Anyway, let’s cut to the chase,” the cop continued.
“Who do you think caused all this mess? Ah, never mind. Chatting out here will bother the neighbors, so why don’t you come inside?” I grumbled and resigned.
It seemed that whether I dropped out or not, I might end up moving out of this place. I should’ve picked a place without all the upfront fees.

Uh...
I already thought about this possibility however seems it happened earlier and on different settings too...
WTF so your way out are sorting things out with these 3 then? Or 2 probably now it seems...
Dude, really... I could confidently said your luck are shit...
Not even drop out seems all shiny now since these bitches would surely nag you out when being questioned... Sigh*
Seems when MC presented himself he must've said some lines like "there aren't more like me" or something similar because it doesn't make any sense for molester-cop to point out MC had said it would be a problem if there was another man named like himself moments later.
(ಠ_ಠ) How many chapter this novel does this novel have again? Now I see why the... "comedy" tag.
