Chapter 102: What's Behind It All?
“What… what are you going to do?”
“Mind your own business. Discipline is important, right? Isn’t it an adult’s duty to properly discipline a brat who can’t even follow the simple instruction to stay home?”
Despite her fear, Angie resisted feebly, but Kimura-san was relentless. This isn’t some fairytale where a princess solves everything with brute force.
What the hell is this deranged creature? Calling her a mother is an insult. Is this the same woman who was sweet-talking me just a while ago?
I’ll be honest: I’m completely put off by Kimura-san’s attitude. But there’s something in this situation I can’t ignore, so I asked her directly.
“Kumi-san.”
“Y-yes?”
“By any chance… is Yuki being abused?”
“…”
Kumi-san's silence was telling. It was almost like she was confessing without saying a word.
Seriously? Is Kimura-san really that terrible of a parent? She’s a whole new level of awful, making other types of bad parents look tame in comparison. Child abuse or neglect shouldn't even exist.
Any feelings I had towards Kimura-san have completely changed, and not in a good way.
What the hell is this?
I’m filled with frustration. While I'm just an outsider, I can’t stand by and let Yuki and Angie suffer at the hands of this woman’s rage.
“What are you doing here?”
As I intervened, pretending to be disinterested, Kimura-san was the first to react.
“Y-Yuuta-kun!?”
“Hey there, Kimura-san. Nice to see you again, or, should I say, feel your murderous aura. You’re so pissed, you're almost unapproachable.”
If she wants to be mad at me, fine, but taking it out on a little girl and Angie is unacceptable.
“Onii-chan…”
“Wh-what!? Really!?”
Angie called out to me with relief, causing Kimura-san to look shocked. She must have remembered that I have a blond little sister who I used to protect from bullies in elementary school.
But Kimura-san probably didn’t realize that the blond middle schooler standing up for her daughter here is indeed my sister.
“Onii-taaaan!! Onii-tan! Onii-tan!! Hic, huuuh, waaah!!”
Yuki broke free from Kimura-san’s grip and ran to me, crying out of fear and relief.
“… I can't believe this. How can you treat your own daughter like that?”
I said quietly while patting Yuki's head as she clung to me. As much as I wanted to yell, I knew it would only scare Yuki more.
I wanted to be the kind brother Yuki needed. Calm down, Libido… Wait, that's not right. My anger and libido are different things. Otherwise, I'd be a pedophile, and the only thing I've stepped into is the mess of the Kimura household.
“No, no, it's not like that! She just won't listen to me, so I…”
Kimura-san's desperate attempt to explain was unconvincing. It sounded like an excuse someone would make when caught cheating.
But why do people always say, “It’s not what it looks like,” when they’re clearly caught in the act? I should have taken psychology in college to understand this.
“…Airi…”
“B***h!! You brought him here! It's all your fault!! All your fault!!”
Not even trying to hide her true colors, Kimura-san directed her fury at Kumi-san, who had timidly stepped forward. Calling her stepmother a b***h just because she’s not related by blood is way out of line.
“Calm down. You're just drawing more attention.”
“…!!”
I tried to sound calm as I warned her, making Kimura Airi freeze and then rush past me, fleeing the scene.
I caught a glimpse of her tearful, regretful expression as she passed by, but I couldn’t bring myself to stop her. My bad.
—
“I’m so sorry… I didn't expect Airi to skip work and come here.”
“Hic, hic… waaah…”
Great. Now we're in a secluded spot, trying to calm Yuki down, but she just won’t stop crying. And Kumi-san looks just as lost and helpless.
What am I supposed to do now?
…
Well, it looks like the spring festival isn't happening for us. I need to find a safe place for Yuki. Comforting a crying child is the right thing to do.

At least this means MC won't be dating Kimua.
Hmmm, the moment Ange was getting bullied was the moment to step out and, oh man, MC did it. Lashing out on poor Yuki is just all MC needed to stop liking that girl entirely, if he ever did (so far seems he got over her and never has seriously thought about getting back with her, so all's fine).
PD: Kimura and Yuki are implied to be blonde, which would explain the whole thing with the former being rebellious towards its adoptive parents. I was thinking that it would be epic if MC's mom convinced grandma to let her adopt Yuki. She would be free from her abusive mom environment, wouldn't be bullied because both his new mom and new sis are blonde like her, and Yuuta would get a new angel and become her onii-chan for real. A superb win for the cute innocent loli and his grandma.
Seriously tho, she deserves better, and Kimura should stop denying her daughter, she's all she has now. But if she doesn't, I hope adoption it is.
Hahaha, Airi is everything I hoped for, as a character in a regret story.
Two other girls both have some kind of circumstance, some kind of excuse, so their regrets are somewhat diluted.
But this one, no matter if she somehow comes around or crashes and burns, it's going to be delicious.
(TBH, I believed she is not Yuki's mother until the last moment, because I expected MC to know her parents if they were childhood friends.)
Man, poor Yuki. She could've been born to a more loving family but got a b*tch as a mother instead
X - lewding or abusing loli
✔️ - defending loli from her 304 of an egg-donor and giving her all the reassuring hugs
Airi has topped my shit list with this chapter; being an ungrateful brat to the people who were kind enough to give her a home and family, being irresponsible and becoming a teen mom, refusing to take responsibility and instead blaming her young daughter, and only wishing she stayed with the MC because she doesn't the consequences of her actions (and to babytrap him?!).
She belongs to the streets
Kojima is the only one choice if he ever decide to reconciliate since she's the real victim ( i believe). Mii definitely regret her past and her mom will prevent that happen again (plus he may be compensated since her daughter do something unforgiveable), so it may be possible to reconciliate if kojima is no longer a choice or no chance for any decent girl.
But this one, she's literally a walking anti-tank mine, just imagine you pickup a baby from the dumpster, raising it with full care/love, then calling you bitxh and become rapic or whole to shame you just because he/her is adopted. I mean, what the heck? Where is the logic.
The fact that she even planned to make him responsible for someone egg is already black flag for her.
