Chapter 76 | Jirota-san

We are on a trip to Atami.

We are enjoying a sumptuous dinner.

“The tempura is amazing. It’s so soft and fluffy!” 

On either side of me sit my stepsister, Dahlia, and my girlfriend, Rika.

Between the chopsticks Dahlia is holding up, there is a fish tempura covered in a silken batter.

Jirota-san, explains.

“It’s a pufferfish tempura.”

“pufferfish! Onii-chan… that’s crazy! It’s pufferfish! pufferfish! Such high-class cuisine… amazing… it’s my first time…”

Rika suddenly noticed and said.

“Hey, don’t you need a license to cook pufferfish?”

Rika’s mother, Yamaga-san, now works as a cook at a hotel.

As one would expect from the daughter of a chef, she knows her stuff.

“Of course, I have a pufferfish license. I can even handle a whole pufferfish.”

“Whole…pufferfish?”

“The pufferfish before the poison is removed.”

Jirota said that the license for pufferfish differs depending on the type of pufferfish being handled.

He said that the poisoned pufferfish is called “migaki fugu” (pufferfish with the poison removed). That makes it a little easier, he said.

It is very difficult to get a license to handle the whole pufferfish, he said.

“That’s amazing…as expected of a chef in the Niekawa family.”

“Jirota-san, you can do anything, can’t you?”

“He even drove a helicopter before.”

Jirota-san smiles and replies.

“I just do what I can do.”

Jirota-san is amazing, as you can see from the way he handles fugu (pufferfish) and operates a helicopter.
