Dahlia and the others decided to stay at Shinji’s grandfather’s house.
That night.
As Dahlia was sleeping, someone entered her futon.
For a moment, she found herself hoping it was Shinji… and felt self-loathing.
Even though Shinji has a girlfriend, he wouldn’t do something so ungrateful.
Even though she knew that, she still found herself hoping, and thought it really wasn’t right.
“…Rika-tan?”
By process of elimination, it was Rika.
Just as she thought, Rika had arrived with a worried look on her face.
Dahlia sighed.
It was probably something to do with Shinji. The only times this girl’s heart wavers are when something happens related to Shinji.
Dahlia hugged Rika tightly.
Her stiff expression loosened a little.
“…What is it?”
“Yeah… well… it was about his ex-fiance.”
“Ah…Ryuko-chan.”
Today was the first time she heard about Shinji’s engagement.
Maybe she was surprised and jealous…
“So you felt bad for Onii-chan.”
“…H-How did you know?”
“I guess.”
Rika muttered softly.
“…Shin-chan always loved me so much. I was shaken by a mere ex-girlfriend, or rather, ex-fiancee. Shin-chan always told me that I was the most important to him…”
She felt like she had betrayed his trust, and hated herself for being like that.
Dahlia patted her head with a bitter smile.
It was the same emotion she had felt towards her stepbrother just a moment ago.
“That’s a natural reaction for a human being.”
“Really…?”
“Yeah. People aren’t robots. We get jealous, and sometimes we hate ourselves. But don’t blame yourself too much. It’ll just make it harder.”
She patted Rika’s head.
Rika hugged Dahlia tightly.
“What can I do to stay calm?”
“There’s nothing we can do, we’re only human.”
“I see…”
“Yeah. If you ever get anxious again, come over anytime. Onee-chan will comfort you.”
Rika smiled slightly when Dahlia said that.
Then she said in a small voice.
“I want a proof of our love. Like a baby…”
“No… that’s too early.”
“I… I know. Haha… that’s impossible… a baby. We’re just high school students, you know…”
But her expression was serious.
It looked like she wanted a baby with the real Shinji.
“Yeah. Giving birth as a high school student is a no-go. I’m sure Onii-chan isn’t prepared for it either. If you’re not prepared or ready, it’ll be a pity for the baby.”

I know the author forgot that Rika was at the mansion during new years but didn't the author also mention on one of those chapters to Rika that she was his ex fiance?
