Feel free to skim through the following character introductions and setting details. It also includes information about supporting characters and a summary of the online forum, so you can skip it if you already remember.
While this is posted in the latest chapter, I may move it to the beginning of the chapter later.
The main story will be updated around the evening.
Stage
Hoshigaoka High School
With an academic reputation of 63, the school is home to many bright students and has a liberal atmosphere. As a result, some unique students tend to emerge.
There were mixed opinions on what to do about the student with rainbow-colored hair, but after placing first in the midterm exams, those in favor of accepting him gained the upper hand. However, ever since the creative dance presentation, he’s garnered both positive and negative attention, accelerating the debate over his treatment.
The disciplinary committee is still eager to find faults in him, despite his model student behavior in everything but his hair color and hobbies.
Character Introductions
Hajime Toumachi
(Main Character)
A second-year high school student. Average height and build, with black hair. He was living a gloomy school life with zero friends and no girlfriend.
In this dreary life, he fell in love at first sight with Ayano Kisaragi. He accidentally met her during the second-year Golden Week holiday and nervously tried to talk to her, only to be completely forgotten. He still has nightmares about the heartbreak.
He had no hobbies, no particular talents, but was good at studying. He ranked fifth in the year-end exams. Unlike others, he had little aversion to studying, and he spent his free time and holidays diving into his textbooks.
Naturally, he was not part of any school clubs. He worked part-time at a factory due to the excess time he had, amassing a considerable amount of savings, which have dwindled recently.
True to his reputation as “precision machinery” (self-proclaimed), he has had zero complaints at work. He also has zero friends at his part-time job. Recently, he’s gotten hooked on rhythm games played after work.
During middle school, he received a computer, and he quickly became engrossed in the online world, eventually stumbling upon anonymous forums, where he still hangs out today. He's even a premium member, of course.
His parents and younger sister (a second-year middle schooler) live overseas. Though he talks to his parents a few times a year over the phone, he hasn’t spoken to his sister since his first year of high school.
Notable Features
Hair Color: Rainbow-colored.
After bleaching his hair, he lavishly mixed seven different colors to produce an actual rainbow hue. Recently, he’s added pink and orange to the mix, making it nine colors.

In addition, he's started doing creative work. He’s tried writing novels, composing music, and drawing illustrations, though all of these are hidden away in his secret room.
Ayano Kisaragi
With long black hair, Ayano is around the same height as Hajime. She's a classmate of Hajime's and is known for her beauty, considered one of the most attractive in the year.
Her focus is mainly on her little sister, Kanon Kisaragi, her close friend Momo Hatsune, and cooking. However, she's recently become a bit curious about Hajime, since he has started visiting her house more frequently. She eagerly wants him to teach her the recipe for cabbage curry, but the opportunity has yet to present itself.
She's often late, barely making it to school on time in the mornings. Her hobby is cooking, and she often cooks for her sister and Momo. Her father is rarely home, and her mother works, so she takes care of her sister and isn't part of any clubs.
She slightly envies her sister for being more free-spirited and straightforward.
Momo Hatsune
Standing tall at 175 cm, her most notable feature is her height. She has short, black bob-cut hair. Despite her height, she doesn't give off an intimidating vibe and is generally cheerful and approachable.
Her hobby is creating things. She used to spend all of her monthly allowance on it, but recently, she's started saving money to hang out with Hajime. Inspired by him, she's also started challenging herself by reading novels, a genre she used to dislike.
She's part of the basketball team and uses her height to her advantage as one of the star players. While she's more popular with girls, her popularity with boys has recently been rising for some reason.
Because Ayano and Momo are close, many boys have approached Momo in an attempt to get closer to Ayano. As a result, Momo has zero male friends. While she does talk to guys, she keeps a certain distance from them. However, Momo is a bit lonely, so she often visits her best friend Ayano's house.
She has known about Hajime since their first year, especially because of his suspicious behavior toward Ayano, marking him as someone to watch out for. However, after the incident involving a certain alumna (OG), her attention to Hajime changed in a different way.
As for her feelings toward the protagonist, Momo still doesn't have a clear answer. For now, she treats Hajime the same way she treats Ayano— as a special “best friend.”
She no longer needs to change into pajamas before bed. She also gave Hajime a “do anything you want” pass, which he has yet to use.
Shiori Momiji
Standing at a petite height of 145 cm, Shiori is known for her short haircut and long bangs that obscure her face. While she doesn't have the same intimidating presence as Hajime, she still gives off an unapproachable aura, often seen reading a book.
Naturally, her hobby is reading. She reads at least one book a day and is familiar with the location of nearly every book in the school library, though she's still working her way through the public library.
She mostly enjoys mystery novels. Although she isn't part of any clubs, she's an active member of the school's student library committee.
Seeing how much Hajime treasures books, she wanted to become friends with him, though this has proven to be quite a challenge for her. While she can handle work and formal conversations, she struggles when it comes to personal topics, which has led her to behave oddly around Hajime.
Lately, though, due to Hajime's influence, she's started to come out of her shell little by little. After trimming her long bangs, her eyes are now visible, and her voice has grown louder. She's even made friends besides Hajime. She's beginning to like the changes she sees in herself, little by little.
Ichigo Yumesaki
With her long blonde hair, Ichigo sports a look that blends 50% gal style and 50% yankee (as she describes herself). Recently, there's been a visible 25% touch of elegance added to her gal look (also her words).
She's about the same height as Hajime but gives off a piercing, intimidating aura, making her feared at school. However, she's started to open up and talk with girls besides Rio. Boys have also begun to show interest in her, though she remains unaware of it (according to Rio).
Her passion is music, and she's so hooked that she visits CD shops daily. She often hangs out in town with her best friend, Rio Hiiragi. Ichigo heard she could “immerse herself in music” at clubs, which led to her first encounter with Hajime during a club visit with Rio.
After a group date, she gave Hajime a CD of her favorite song, and they became friends. She still isn't used to the stark contrast between Hajime's regular self and his persona during the dance performance.
Listening to conversations between Rio and Hajime has become her daily joy. She still hasn't worked up the courage to enter a club alone.
Rio Hiiragi
Rio has tea-colored, softly curled, semi-long hair. Despite being a high school student, she's skilled at makeup and exudes a bright, popular aura, though she doesn't draw as much attention from boys as Ayano does. She's generally kind but has a mischievous side and enjoys teasing people who seem fun to play with.
Her hobby is people-watching. She works part-time as a model, which has expanded her social circle, giving her connections both inside and outside of school.
Her best friend is Ichigo, and they're always together. Recently, she's grown more interested in Hajime and wants to become just as close to him as Ichigo is. When she teases Hajime, she's careful to ensure she doesn't overdo it and end up on bad terms with him.
Kanon Kisaragi
Ayano's younger sister, who shares the same long black hair. She's five years old and, unlike her older sister, is quite level-headed, treating Ayano as a cautionary example of what not to do.
She loves sparkly things and was immediately drawn to Hajime's rainbow-colored hair, growing attached to him. Now that his hair has nine colors, her fondness has only increased.
Since Hajime is more willing to indulge her whims than even her father, she runs straight to him whenever she spots him. Thanks to his influence, she's also started getting more serious about her studies.
Characters with Less Frequent Appearances
Nina Toumachi
Hajime's younger sister.
She has long brown hair (naturally colored). She's a born socialite, able to befriend anyone and become the center of attention anywhere she goes (as described by others).
She's currently living abroad, but upon hearing about Hajime's situation, she decided to return home. The protagonist doesn't quite know how to deal with the grown-up version of his sister.
Satoru Toumachi & Hana Toumachi
Hajime's father and mother.
Satoru has neatly styled short black hair and is a highly educated qualification enthusiast. Due to work, he lives overseas.
Hana has short bob-cut brown hair (naturally colored) and is on the shorter side. She moved overseas to pursue her dream of working as a translator and for educational purposes.
Rikka Tachibana
Shiori’s first friend.
Rikka was drawn to Shiori, who was always absorbed in reading, after noticing the guy with rainbow-colored hair near her. Since Rikka had no other book-loving friends, she eagerly pursued a friendship with Shiori.
Like Shiori, Rikka’s hobby is reading, and she especially enjoys detective novels. According to Shiori, Rikka tends to get overly confident when praised.
Haori
Owner of a certain club.
She is a striking woman with medium-length black hair that seems to absorb everything around it. She's also rumored to run a beauty salon and other businesses.
Intrigued by Hajime’s eccentric hairstyle, she once hit on him for fun. Her commanding presence surpasses even Rio’s, and it's said that when angry, her very existence can be consumed by darkness (according to Hajime and the club staff).
Haori is highly attuned to trends, constantly gathering information, including from anonymous message boards.
Club Security
A security guard at the entrance of Hajime's favorite club.
Hajime's unusual hairstyle made him memorable, and now every time he comes in, the guard enjoys checking whether he's still a virgin.
Club Staff
The staff at Hajime’s favorite club.
At first, they saw him as an eccentric who only ordered water, earning him the nickname “Eucalyptus Boy.” However, after witnessing his dance skills and realizing that he had become one of Haori’s favorites, they began to respect him.
Fubuki Kashiwagi
The captain of the second-year basketball team.
Her position is point guard.
She's very curious about the changes happening with Momo, and is equally interested in Hajime, who seems to be the cause of them.
Aki Mitsui
A first-year basketball player.
Despite being a first-year, her exceptional ability to read the ball earned her a spot on the starting lineup as a shooting guard. Her sharp instincts extend beyond just basketball, as she's witnessed several things she can’t tell her teammates about.
Yuuka
A first-year high school girl Hajime met at a group date.
They ran into each other again when she was working at a vintage clothing store.
Her special skill is martial arts. She also holds a “do anything you want” pass from Hajime but is still unsure how to use it.
Police Officer
A police officer who frequently patrols around the park.
At first, he viewed Hajime as a potential troublemaker, but now recognizes him as a boy who often plays with children. He's also skilled in gymnastics.
Hairdresser
The person responsible for giving Hajime his rainbow-colored hair.
He considers Hajime his masterpiece. If Hajime ever asked to return his hair to black, the hairdresser would cry.
Various Message Boards
※ Board Name: Responder’s Name
Love Advice Board: Anonymous in Love
A discussion board focused on love and relationships. The topics vary widely. This is Hajime’s primary battlefield.
Board for Extremely Unpopular Men: (‘A`)
Commonly known as “Mo-dan” (Unpopular Man) thread.
The conditions for posting here are: not dating any women, not having female friends, and having no plans to confess to a woman.
Hajime frequented this board from middle school until the day before entering high school.
Board for Men Who Really Want to Be Popular: (‘∀`)
A thread where men who want to be more popular gather.
Hajime is only a silent reader (ROM) here. He's absorbed plenty of useful information (according to him) from it.
