Chapter 25: Henceforth.
Translated and Edited by: luccayn.
Enjoy!
My marriage with Ms. Roseberry sent quite the buzz down the noble coterie. After all, the Marquis of Andrea—an important royalist figure of our nation—and his wife both attended a wedding of the neutral house of Berner. It was reason enough to cause a political splash, even.
—And there was no mention of my former fiancé.
The count and countess of the Camell house retired early, passing the torch to both Lyla and Rein. In turn, they had become the official Count and Countess of Camell. Heirs to such a prestigious family, and with two powerful titles, the young couple were celebrated by all around them.
—And there was no mention of their former family member, a bygone sister.
Furthermore, the previous heads of the Camell house—Lulu's grandparents—had been living in their kin's estate. However, they fell to a carriage accident upon hearing the news that their granddaughter, Lyla, was pregnant and rushing to meet her. Their funeral was held and attended solely by their relatives, as the deceased couple was under scrutiny when it happened.
—And there was no mention of the other granddaughter they once adored.
Noble social circles were places wherein a wide range of topics was discussed. From the future prospects of a ruinous estate, lacking in harvest, to the boisterous quarrels of one couple a many—there was never, and would never be a limit to what human beings were capable of in gossiping. Naturally, some stories were exaggerated telltales, while others were true and grim, unable to be overlooked. Thus, it was essential for a noble to partake in such cliques to gather information.
—But there, the potboiler stories of her dredging ugliness were no longer in the people's mouths.
Sometime later, a child was born to Lyla and Rein. A boy. In turn, numerous congratulations rained from their peers, shown in the many gifts they'd received.
Not too long after, I had a child born between me and my beloved wife, Roseberry. It was a lovely girl. Memories of me holding her warmth in my arms still swelled the corners of my eyes with tears; I couldn't help but admire life and its beauty as my heart billowed gratefulness to both my wife and my child, for existing and for being a part of my life.
Then, another blessing came into my life. I had another child; a boy. Not unlike the first time, tears fell unashamed to the floor. My daughter, who still hadn't spoken her first true words, pushed a small napkin in cute and erring motions at my face. She seemed to comfort me.
Time passed and I had officially taken over the reins of my family. I had become the official heir to the Berner house. It seemed to me my parents wished to support my family a while longer, moving to and fro King's Landing and the Berner fiefdom. I was thankful, yes, but the truth was that they just wanted to see their grandchildren's faces…
Kindly, time marched. Lyla and Rein had another blessing born into their lives, and this time it was a girl. My daughter, in turn, was excited she would have a new baby sister in her life. Still, I wondered what she meant by that, and as a father, I had mixed feelings about it… Rein burst out laughing as soon as he saw my face. I had to give him a piece of it.
As soon as their daughter turned one, His Majesty, who reigned well during his lifetime, decided to abdicate the throne. A grand coronation ceremony was held to crown his firstborn as the new king. The country as a whole congratulated the passing down of duty and honor, sending their regards to the new young king and queen.
However, just one month before such a wonderful coronation, there was a fire in a certain cabin deep in the woods. It had been quickly put out, and fortunately, it hadn't turned into a forest fire.
Where the flames burned brightest, at the center of it all, nothing was left but the ruins of what once was a cabin.
—And there was no gossip about it; not a wind, not a whisper, and not a single sound.
The end.
It's over!
Well, I'll be honest here and give my unabashed review
of this story. TL;DR: It was okay, but not the best by a long shot.
I felt this needed way more chapters than it got, and the author should've—in my humble opinion—shown more of what Lulu had committed to warrant such a heavy punishment and tragic end. Sure, she cheated, and it had more ramifications due to the aristocratic setting of the novel. Still, it was too drastic a turn in the plot, and it should've been more fleshed out.
Adding to that, the characters had a good little base for what they were meant to be, but there was never an opportunity for them to interact. The best chapter, in my opinion, was the drinking night between Rein and Rou. That heart to hearts was the main reason for translating this series, and I hoped it would stay like that throughout. Still, I couldn't just read everything as it would take from my excitement during the TL, but I at least had an idea of where it would go.
Still, it wasn't as bad as some of the things I've read in the past, so I'll leave here my final score: Five revenges out of ten.
Ah, yes! Before I forget, there are a few extra chapters here and there, and some omakes that have nothing to do with the story. Hence the number of chapters in NU.
I don't know if it's worth it to translate the extras, so I'll ask you if you want it so.
With this, I hope to see you at the next one! Peace!

Woof, seems like someone has read Pride & Prejudice and decided to give is a sadistic incel twist. I read it, after the 2nd chapter of her delusional visit, I was just skimming to the end. It just turned into repetitive torture of someone who was just stupid and deluded and you'd need to be really warped to enjoy that sadistic wickedness. She should have been sent to a convent and made to be a nun.
Wow ....i didnt epect her to die.......
I feel like the author has a certain someone in mind when they're making this novel. Geez. Thanks for the TL tho! I enjoyed it
well thanks for translate and yeah mc always make a gigachad
Kinda disappointed that author doesn't ship Lyla and rou. And more over. Author give bitterness vibe. When mc say he love lyla.
When I read rein already married lyla and have child, I'm feel so depressing,. 😩
Did she actually die, i mean the mental damage was alright? But I hope she could escape and become a new person.
damn wait so she actually died in the end due to the fire.... now that was kinda unwarranted.... oh well.
Concuerdo con el comentario del traductor, faltó profundizar en los pecados de Lulú y elf inal fue muy apresurado.
Btw it's 10:33 pm here not 7:33 pm....in here
Lmao .... it's 10:31pm not 7:01pm...
Though i admitted that the story is kinda heavy....but the quality of your translation is pretty good
Honestly not a bad story but it felt like the real story was already over by the first chapter. The engagement was already done and from then on it was just a slightly longer epilogue.
Author could have done way more with this. Either starting way earlier or telling the story through flashbacks and let us see the MC struggle as she slowly turns into a spoiled diva and starts to ruin herself right through to the end.
I'm gonna throw a comparison with remarried empress in (far superior novel, read it if you haven't and thank me later) but this is like RE did the divorce/remarriage scene at the start then just went into the epilogue. All of the good stuff leading up to it cut out and the aftermath summarised in a few chapters.
Thanks for the translation, it was an okay story but i liked it. I say dont translate the extra chapters they're most likely slice of life chapters and would be kinda boring if you ask me but its your choice brother youre the boss.
To be honest, this novel has a very good way of conveying the narrative, especially the protagonist who feels his pain. But we can't really hate Lulu, honestly I wish the author had written more about what she did or made a pov of her, I didn't feel enough hate, at least not enough hate to justify such a tragic end to her, which was basically a very well-engineered psychological torture
Thank you for the chapter, seeing the ending it does feel somewhat rushed. Despite that, this is a good short story to pass the time.
Yeah there was way too little story here to really tell a good story. Reads like a “My ex cheated, but now she’s miserable and I’m doing great” story you see online.
Thank you, Ynlucca, for the translation. It's was a good translation, just a lacking story, especially after the meaty and interesting setting of the deceased 'Cursed to be Hated'.
I agree with you that they really didn't pace the story well at all; the girl was never shown to be so overly cruel, and while we got pages upon pages of people discussing how awful she is, how evil she is, etc, etc, we got shown only a rather selfish and careless girl, who was inferred but never confirmed to have actually done more than be careless.
Not only that, but the ending to this story was very unsatisfying. This girl? Just a puff of smoke and a fire and she's dead. That's the big pay off? Christ, just have her hang herself, at least it implies some kind of emotional conclusion to her story. As far as I can tell, she was executed via mishandling the coal while boiling an egg.
Thanks for you hard work!
And I, for one, would want to read, at least, the extra chapters if not the omakes!
like someone commented in the past chapter, its better if the autor doesn't needlessly prolong the story, but in one as short like this one, I would like to read all chapters!
