Chapter 12: The real meaning.

Enjoy!
“Um… what? Sorry, but what did you mean by that…?”
“What I mean is, Lulu wants to see you, and she's making a fit all by herself again.”
Perhaps I misheard, I thought before being proven wrong… Though, I can't help but think of why. Once again, I tried to reorganize the information the count had just given me.
Lulu's transfer was decided to happen next week. This is fine. It might've taken longer than I thought, but it's understandable.
She started saying she wouldn't move until she saw you… Hm? I'll be honest, I can't understand this part. I mean, yeah, I get the words, but why would she want to see me? And what's that about dying if she doesn't? What for?
Confusion struck me. Even when we were engaged, she had never made such a fuss for wanting to see me. Plus, she most certainly doesn't have any real intention of dying, leaving me to wonder what in the world might she want with me after it all.
“It's embarrassing, I know. To whine about seeing you after everything is just shameless… And to add insult to injury, though she says she's going to die, she's eating just as well as ever,” the count said.
“She's in such good spirits, that she even asks for sweet cakes and other desserts. I'm sure it's all a ruse, but I don't want to trouble the squires if she gets out of control during her transport. If she doesn't mature by the time she has to go, we'll just use a sleeping medicine and forcibly take her there…” Added his wife.
Then, both of their gazes turned to Lyla, who nodded lightly and opened her mouth, “I made the suggestion that we should hear your say in this.”
“You want my opinion?” Could it be they want my input in how to transfer countess Lulu as part of the Berner house? However, compensation for the broken engagement has long been paid, and the Count of Berber has no more interest in getting involved with the former betrothed's family.
True, I am personally involved in this as a friend to both Lyla and Rein, but I have no intention of interjecting personal circumstances that might leave a lasting chasm between the two families. As for my own house, we have decided to leave everything at the discretion of the current heads of the Camell family.
I tried to tell them so, but they opposed it.
“I have no intention of listening to that child's narcissism anymore. In fact, I don't want you to see her like that either, but I wondered if that would be the best thing for you…” Lyla said.
“You don't have to think hard. I'm just implying it's okay for you to have the option to meet her, for your own sake, and not for my house or that thing. Well, you haven't seen her once during the breaking off, correct? I figured it would be in your best interest to meet her and cut things off firmly once and for all, so you wouldn't feel left out… That's what Lyla and I came up with, so we're here to ask you,” Rein added.
“You two…” Their kindness touched my heart.
Truthfully, I believe my feelings for her have since dissipated from my heart, but leaving without properly saying what needed to be said might come back to bite me later in the future as some sort of regret. Thus, the opportunity provided by the two… No, provided by the Camell house as a whole, is made so that I wouldn't have any lingering regrets when I look back at the past someday.
“Of course, if you don't want to meet her, you may refuse. We have neither the obligation or want to accommodate that child's selfishness.”
The next words came from the Camell head and Lyla's father. They were enough to summarize the whole meaning of this whole meeting, as at this point, Lulu Camell was most likely already stripped of her nobility. It was also decided that she would be transferred as no more than a commoner, and no matter how much noise she might make. They are also serious about using sleeping medicine.
In other words, Lulu's fuss about wanting to see me was just a pretext, and this whole opportunity was prepared just for me. Lyla and Rein were clear on why they called me, but perhaps the count and countess of the Camell house, who would become my in-laws, had the same thoughts. They had taken good care of me when I was engaged to their daughter, and even during the annulment process.
The sooner I meet her one final time, the better. I would ask Lulu Camell a few things I wanted to confirm, which would leave me satisfied or not.
Thus, I decided to meet her.

Thanks for the chapter. I hate to say it but this chapter was a waste of time for a simple "yes". The author didnt have to put to much thought into this one. (Btw im drunk)
Good luck… lol
Thank you. I know it wont be that long before the next one but still, I hate cliffhangers.
