Chapter 12: Exchange of contact information
Translator: Soafp
On Monday morning, the start of a new week, I arrived at school and immediately sensed something strange in the air.
“What… is this?”
Everything looked the same as always, but there was this odd tension — like something was off.
Even though I'd been thinking about whether Aizawa had recovered, that concern nearly vanished under the weight of this weird atmosphere.
“Good morniiiing—”
The classroom was noisy as usual, yet somehow it felt different. Touya wasn't here yet, but I spotted Nakajima, so I dropped my bag on my desk and walked over to him.
“Morning, Nakajima.”
“Oh, morning, Kamiki.”
“…Hey, does it feel strange to you today?”
As soon as I said that, Nakajima's expression turned serious.
“Actually…”
“…Yeah?”
Something had definitely happened. I swallowed hard, feeling the tension spread. Nakajima spoke quietly.
“…They say it showed up.”
“What did?”
“A ghost… apparently, there's a ghost haunting our school.”
“…Huh?”
What on earth was he talking about?
But it seemed he wasn't joking — a rumor had started spreading that a ghost had appeared somewhere in the school. No one knew where the story came from, but people whispered it like it was the truth.
“How did that even start?”
“Some upperclass girl supposedly saw something terrifying, or that's what I heard. Nobody knows the details, though.”
“Huh…”
An upperclass girl, huh? That rings a bell, but it's not like that helps much.
In the end, we didn't learn anything more about this so-called ghost.
Still, after a while, the tension faded, and the classroom returned to its usual lively noise.
“Morning!”
“Good morning, Runa!”
“Huh? You're by yourself today?”
And then — the girl who'd been on my mind showed up.
As her friends pointed out, neither Nakazato nor Tokunaga was with Aizawa today. She'd come to school alone.
“…Good, looks like she's all better.”
“What?”
“Ah, no, nothing…”
“What's… wrong?”
Nakajima and I froze.
Because Aizawa was standing there, staring right at us.
She didn't move — just kept her eyes fixed on me.
She probably wanted to talk about Saturday. When I went back to my seat, she immediately walked over.
“Good morning, Kamiki.”
“Morning, Aizawa.”
There was no trace of the anxious look she'd had before.
Knowing her, she must've recovered completely — and maybe even made up with Tokunaga.
“Your cold—”
“Hm?”
“Looks like you've gotten better. Not that I even needed to ask.”
“…Yeah.”
Aizawa nodded slightly, her cheeks tinted with a shy blush.
It made sense. After all, I'd seen her room, carried her to her bed — it must've been embarrassing.
“My mom told me everything. Sorry for causing you trouble.”
“It's no trouble. I wrote it in the letter, didn't I? Don't think of it as a debt or a bother, okay?”
“…Right. But I still want to say it properly. Thank you.”
“It's fine, really.”
“By the way…”
“Yeah?”
“Did you actually say what you wrote in the P.S.?”
“Haha… let's just say I got a good hit in for that one.”
That part — about how her mom looked so young I mistook her for an older sister — yeah, I said it.
Mom didn't actually get mad… but she did give me a solid smack on the shoulder. It stung a bit.
“I kept that letter, you know.”
“Huh?”
“Your handwriting, your words — they were so warm that when I read it, it felt like I could actually hear your voice.”
“…………”
“So I'm keeping it. I'll never throw it away.”
She smiled as she said it — and that smile nearly stopped my heart. I did my best to keep a poker face so she wouldn't notice.
“And then—”
“Good morniiiing, Runa! Morning to you too, Kamiki!”
“Kya!”
“N-Nakazato…”
Before I knew it, Nakazato had thrown herself at Aizawa, wrapping her arms around her.
Their chests pressed together and… well, let's just say it was a sight that a man must neither look away from nor dare to look at.
“Runa, you're okay now?”
“I told you in my message, didn't I? I'm fine, Rira.”
“Yeah, but I was still worried!”
“I see… well, thanks for caring, Rira.”
“Fufu♪”
Aizawa patted Nakazato's head gently.
The two most beautiful girls in class — just being near each other like that felt almost divine, like the air itself got cleaner.
As I burned that scene into my brain, I pulled out my chair and sat down. Then Aizawa suddenly pulled out her phone.
“Kamiki, can we exchange contacts?”
“…Huh?”
“Is that no good?”
“N-no…”
I froze. I hadn't expected her to suggest exchanging contact info.
Only Tokunaga supposedly had her number — and now I was about to get it?
Some eyes were on us, but no one could hear our conversation, so the class didn't erupt in gossip.
“Wait, sorry, maybe that was too sudden—”
“N-no! That's not it! I just mean… is it really okay?”
“Of course. I mean, we've gotten pretty close, haven't we? And if something like before happens again, we could talk right away.”
“That's true…”
“Hey hey, can I exchange too?”
“Ah, sure.”
And just like that, I ended up exchanging contacts with both of them.
As I pulled out my phone to respond, though — the NetoraSensor went wild.
“!!”
“Huh? What's that…?”
“Whoa! The whole screen's glowing red!?”
From their angle, they could easily see my phone, and the bright flashing red must've looked completely crazy.
The reaction was way too strong to ignore… but first things first — contact exchange!
“Don't mind that… okay, here, let's do it.”
“Sure.”
“Yup!”
And so, I got both of their contacts.
After chatting a bit more, I excused myself from the classroom to track down the source of the alert.
But once I left, the signal vanished.
When I turned back toward the classroom, it flared up again.
“…………”
Wait a minute…
The signal strengthens when I get closer — and weakens when I move away.
Almost like… it's reacting to me.
“…What?”
To test it, I peeked into the classroom — at Aizawa.
She has a boyfriend.
And I'd gotten a similar reaction before when we were on class duty together.
Now that we were close again, the app reacted once more.
“Don't tell me… this stupid app thinks I'm the cheater?”
I froze.
Sure, I'd gotten closer to her, and yeah, Aizawa's an amazing girl — anyone would be lucky to have her — but no! No way!
“…Haah.”
No matter how much I thought about it, I couldn't figure it out.
But that evening, I learned that my worries were completely misplaced.
After hanging out in town with Touya and the others, I happened to run into Aizawa again — alone.
“Aizawa?”
“Ah, Kamiki!”
We chatted a bit and decided to walk home together for a while.
Just in case, I checked the app.
No reaction.
(Guess it really was just my imagination, huh.)
Relieved, I smiled and walked alongside her for a while.

Okay that last part is weird. The MC is in denial, I mean as per his personality and the such it is understandable. But the sencor not going out at the end was weird, unless she had broken up with her BF by the time they meet, which I dought.
Still in denial, huh?
