Chapter 18 | Start of the Third Semester
One day a few days after the new year.
School starts again today.
I was on my way to the meeting place.
“It’s so cold…”
This coldness is comparable to last year’s Christmas Eve.
Last year, I, Shinji Ueda, was severely cheated on by my girlfriend, Imoko Nakatsugawa.
When I was about to sink into deep sadness, it was she who reached out to me…
“Ah, Rika…!”
A high school girl was standing in front of the park where we were to meet.
She is tall for a girl and has long blond hair.
She has large breasts, a slim waist, and plump thighs.
She has big cat-like eyes.
Her name is Rika Matsumoto.
In a way, she is my girlfriend.
“Hey, Shin-chan. Long time no see.”
Rika smiles and waves her hand.
She is cute with her fluffy scarf and earmuffs.
“Yes. I haven’t seen you since New Year’s.”
Since the New Year’s party, I had stayed abroad with my parents until yesterday.
I had to go back to Japan yesterday for school.
“Rika…have you changed?”
I looked at her closely and saw a change.
“Your hair…looks like pudding.”
Her hair has grown a little longer.
And the top of her head had turned black.
“You didn’t dye your hair.”
“And… my skirt is a little longer now, and I’m wearing tights.”
Before, she was wearing a skirt so short you could almost see her butt and raw legs.
“I thought I’d start with a change like this. I was going to dye it all black, but I thought it would damage my hair.”
“I think that’s a good idea. That’s good. You have beautiful hair.”
Kaa…Rika blushes and buries her face in the scarf.
“Ah, thanks…”
“U, un…”
Rika was so cute and shy that I was embarrassed too.
“Shall we go then?”
“Sure.”
We walk to school side by side.
The January cold is biting our bodies.
When the north wind blew, we shivered.
“Shin-chan…are you cold?”
“Yeah, a little.”
“Where are your gloves?”
“I forgot.”
I was in Hawaii until yesterday.
I had forgotten how cold it was, so I was less conscious of the cold.
“Then…hmm. Shin-chan.”
Rika reached out her hand to me.
“What?”
“You’re so dense!”
She grabbed my hand quickly.
“See, see… it’s warm, isn’t it…”
“Ummm…”
Rika’s hand is warm.
Her body warmth is gradually transmitted to me.
“From the outside, everyone will misunderstand us.”
“Oh, don’t get me wrong! This is, uh, an act! I’m your lover!”
Rika and I are accomplices.
We’re fake lovers…
We start walking to school.
“Let me get this straight. As of now, you were dumped by your ex-girlfriend…Imoko Nakatsugawa, who cheated on you.”
“Ah, yes…it was hard…”
“But it’s been circulating on the class group line that she cheated on you with a guy in our class, Kasuji Kisogawa.”
“So…there’s this whole thing about punishing me by making me go out with a girl, right?”
“That’s right. They give a girl to Shin-chan, who is heartbroken, and at the end of the game, they tell him that it was actually a lie.”
About two weeks had passed since Christmas Eve.
“From the conversations on LINE, it seems that the whole class has gotten the idea that I…Rika Matsumoto is dating Shin-chan as a punishment.”
I guess my classmates are trying to enjoy watching me being cheated and despairing.
But alas, Rika is an insider.
I can see their plans all the way through.
“This is the current situation. So what are we going to do now?”
“I’m going to pretend that I don’t know anything and pretend that Rika is playing a trick on me, right?”
“Yes. In the meantime, you and I will make out. At the end of the third semester, I’m going to reveal the truth. I’m really going out with you, and I’m going to make her feel bad about it.”
Among the people I’m going to get back at is the ex-girlfriend who dumped me…Imoko.
“I think the main thing is to make her regret it. I will show her that I’m a much better woman than that trash who just comes from a rich family.
The change of clothes and the growing out of her hair are part of that, she said.
It’s true that she’s still cute, just in a different outfit and with a different hairstyle.
“What’s wrong?”
“Oh, um…I just thought you are still really pretty.”
“~~~~~~~~~!Ba,ba,ba kā ~♡”
Rika said with a melting smile.
“Th-that kind of thing should be said in the classroom♡ It’s meaningless if you don’t praise me in front of others♡”
That’s true.
We have to show our lovey-dovey side to our classmates, and by extension, to Imoko.
“Yes, that’s right… well… Practice is important, right? If you rush right before the performance, you’ll probably fail, right?”
Rika clears her throat and looks at me.
“I think it’s good, to be honest about what you think outside the classroom, like right now, you know?”
“I see. Well then…Rika is cute today too.”
“~~~~~♡”
Rika’s smile is as soft and melting as kelp in hot water.
“You look so cute when you smile.”
“Aww… ♡♡♡♡”
“You’re also very lovely when you’re embarrassed.”
“Enough….enough…”
Rika raises her hand while gasping for breath.
“What’s wrong?”
“If you keep saying it like that, I’m gonna have a hard time processing it.”
“I’m sorry.”
Rika murmured quietly.
“I wonder if my heart will last long enough for this. I’m so happy I feel like I’m going to die.”
Soon we arrive at the school.
“Now for the show.”
“Yeah, let’s do our best.”
We smiled at each other, still holding hands.
We head straight to the classroom…
Rika opens the door.
“”………””
Our classmates’ gazes were drawn to us.
They rolled their eyes but then grinned uncomfortably.
“…Ignore, ignore”
“…OK”
I don’t care if my classmates look at me like that.
Because I have a strong ally in my life.
We walk together to my seat.
It’s the window seat in the very back.
“How far are you following me, Rika?”
“Good grief. I’m going to sit next to you, right?”
That’s right.
Rika sat down next to me and shook her head.
“I can’t believe you didn’t notice until now, you’re such a bad boyfriend!”
Is she acting already?
“I’m sorry.”
“No, I won’t forgive you. You have to buy me a drink on the way home.”
“Sure. Let’s go somewhere on the way home.”
“Yay~♡ Shin-chan, you’re so handsome!”
Rika hugged me and kissed me on the cheek.
Eeeeehhh!!
A kiss ~~~~~~~~?!!!
“…Ba…ba…baka. Don’t get me wrong. This is an act! It’s an act!”
“Oh, I see.”
Yes, yes, it’s an act, it’s an act…
But isn’t kissing on the cheek too much…?
“This much, of course. We…did…more amazing things!”
Dang.
“What do you mean, amazing things…?”
“Don’t remind me of something embarrassing~♡”
I wonder if she is talking about the beginning of the year.
I’m sure we stayed in her room together, but…!
And then.
“Hey, hey.”
Someone suddenly calls out to me.
I look up to my left and there she is…
There was my ex-girlfriend, Imoko Nakatsugawa.

January 25, 2024 at 5:30 amWhat would be really f****d up by kinda funny is if this actually was a whole act, and she really was going to betray him. The writing in this story would go from a 6/10 to 10/10 immediately. Not to say I don’t enjoy some sugar, but the emotional trauma would be so great that the writing would improve significantly. I seem to have a thing for MC’s who get betrayed so bad they develop issues processing trust and human emotion. It’s kinda fascinating in a way, unfortunately its usually really poorly done. I feel like with the authors style of writing, the mind break would elevate this story.
