Chapter 108: Sora’s Flirty Study Method
Translator: Soafp
That night, the delicious scent of curry filled Sora's house. In the air-conditioned room, the two of them stood in front of a pot wearing matching aprons.
“Are you really okay with mild? I could make it spicy, too.”
“Yeah, I like spicy stuff, but sweet curry's good too. Alright, the cutlets are done frying.”
Onto one large and one small serving of rice, they poured store-bought curry roux—no frills, nothing fancy—and topped it with pork cutlets. Sitting down at the table, Ginji clapped his hands together.
“Time to kick off exam prep. And what better way to fire things up than with curry, right?!”
“Totally! I do like making curry from scratch with caramelized onions and all, but studying's the main goal tonight, so I kept it simple.”
“Looks great to me. This kinda thing hits the spot. Let's eat—thanks for the meal.”
“Yep! Dig in. I'll eat too.”
The mild curry brought out the sweetness of the vegetables, and the coarsely-breaded cutlets gave a satisfying crunch. Ginji was particularly hooked—he even went back for seconds.
After finishing their meal, they washed the dishes and pulled out their study materials. Sora thumped her handwritten workbook onto the desk again.
“We're doing thirty pages tonight. Ten minutes of memorization to start, then we'll tackle the questions with time limits.”
With her cheeks puffed out and eyes gleaming with determination, Sora was clearly fired up. Seeing her like that lit a fire under Ginji too.
“Alright. Bring it on. But just so you know—you better study too. Don't just focus on me.”
“As long as I get first place, it's fine, right? What's more important is your studying!”
“…Maybe I'll shock my parents for once.”
Three hours later, after non-stop memorizing and problem-solving, Ginji stretched out his stiff shoulders. Sora was silently checking the problems he had solved.
“…?”
“Ugh, my shoulders are stiff. Why the frown? Did I mess up?”
“You got it wrong, but your thought process was spot-on. If you keep this up, we'll hit the goal easily.”
“…Then why do you look kind of disappointed?”
“'Cause I wanted to cheer up a struggling Ginji… humph.”
“I do study a little, you know.”
With a smug grin, Ginji gave Sora's head a firm rub. She closed her eyes, clearly enjoying the contact.
“Then we can raise the difficulty a bit. Social studies and classical Japanese are ripe for easy points. Let's bulk up on memorization.”
“Bring it on. It's about time to call it anyway. I'll go over the memorization stuff again before bed.”
The clock had passed 9 PM—later than when Ginji usually left.
“You can stay over, if you want?”
Sora looked up with a sly grin. Ginji responded by flicking her forehead.
“…Idiot. No way that's happening.”
“Meanie. Then, gimme a hug!”
She walked over to Ginji with her arms wide open, waiting for him to come to her. Blushing, Ginji scratched his nose, stood up, and pulled her into a hug. He held her gently—she hugged him back tightly.
“Hehehe…”
“You're extra clingy tonight.”
Her small body fit perfectly in Ginji's arms, and her hair had a light citrus scent. As he affectionately tousled her hair, Sora leaned into him with a satisfied smile.
“Let's study hard tomorrow, too. The day after's a holiday, so we can start in the morning!”
“Sorry, I've got work until the evening that day…”
“Whaaat?! Studying during exam week? Bad boyfriend!”
Still clinging to him, Sora looked up accusingly.
“I'll make up for it with solid studying over the weekend. You should focus on your own prep, too.”
“I have been studying regularly… Maybe I'll go to art school that day and spend the whole afternoon drawing?”
“Must be nice to have it all together…”
“I will study at night, don't worry. Compared to before, when I was juggling Aika's projects and student council stuff, I've actually got free time now.”
“If you've got free time, you should use it for yourself. …Not that I should talk. Actually, I guess drawing could be a form of stress relief. Anyway, we should let go now.”
“Five more minutes.”
“…You're hopeless.”
In the end, they stayed like that for about ten more minutes. After finally letting go and seeing Ginji off, Sora showered, changed clothes, and sat at her desk. She began flipping through her reference books.
“Okay… I'll memorize all of this, then go through all the example questions. Gotta look at everything from different angles if I want to explain it properly to Ginji…”
In her head, Sora envisioned multiple blank notebooks, pulled information from various textbooks and reference materials, and mentally wrote down custom practice questions for Ginji. To anyone watching, it might've looked bizarre—her eyes closed as she mapped out invisible notebooks in her mind. By cross-referencing everything Ginji had solved so far and analyzing his weak spots, she built up a perfectly customized mental workbook. Once complete, she copied everything into a physical notebook to create a personalized problem set.
“Honestly, this is my most efficient way to study. Hehehe… Wouldn't be fair to give him only the tough questions—gotta throw in a few fun ones too.”
To teach Ginji ten concepts, she studied a thousand. This extreme method of preparation was powered by Sora's overwhelming affection—she couldn't stop smiling as she thought about him.
In all her past exams, Sora had been forced by Aika to mechanically gather only high-probability questions and deliver them without deviation. She had been explicitly told not to go beyond what was asked, and as a result, she never applied or expanded on her own knowledge.
Unintentionally, Aika had been suppressing Sora's true potential.
Now, free from Aika and fueled by the strongest motivation of all—love—Sora's pink-tinted brain was operating at full capacity. And most troublesome of all, she had no awareness of it. Everything she was doing stemmed from pure, wholehearted devotion to help her boyfriend.
And so, with her full capabilities finally unleashed, Sora stood on the cusp of a new level of growth—completely unaware, smiling all the while as she continued building the perfect workbook for Ginji.
