Chapter 5 afterword: A Counselor and a Police Officer
Translator: Soafp
“Huh? You are…”
A man with white beard and hair, creased face approached a woman with similarly white hair and wrinkled face as he entered the café.
“Hello there.”
Seeming familiar with each other, they exchanged casual greetings, and upon the man’s invitation, the woman agreed to share a table.
As the woman placed her order, the waiter left, and the man, with white beard and hair, leaned on the table, intertwining his fingers alternately and let out a sigh.
“That incident still weighs on me.”
He began reminiscing about the past. The woman, as if prompted by his words, started speaking, recalling recent events as if they were fresh in her memory.
“I’m filled with regret and sorrow…”
“When he was receiving counseling at the juvenile detention center, he was genuinely trying to turn his life around. And yet…”
“We’re retired now. It’s alright to talk like this. If his journal and his sister’s testimony are true…”
“The impact of one’s upbringing is significant. Considering his past and his immaturity, that surprise party shouldn’t have happened. It brought about a surprise that cost him dearly.”
“Indeed. How adults approach such situations is crucial. Not in a patronizing or condescending manner, but as genuine family. Facing each other as individuals. It’s challenging, as I understand from my counseling work.”
“There’s a good chance things would have turned out differently if it weren’t for what his older sister did.”
“His younger sister, too. The public opinion shifted slightly after that video circulated.”
Voices in the café discussed wanting to punch someone after witnessing such an event, losing faith in the opposite sex, or being fine with being single forever.
The novel released after the brother’s s**cide, “Where Love and Hate Go,” became a hit, selling over 2 million copies. It consisted of the prelude to the brother’s s**cide, the sequel of the younger sister’s revenge, and the younger sister’s subjective portrayal of her life, serving as its conclusion.
Nearly 20 years after the incident, it finally received a film adaptation.
The younger sister survived and left behind her unvarnished feelings in writing, as proof of her brother’s existence, as proof of her own feelings.
Café “Amor y Odio” translates from Spanish to “Love and Hate.”
The two sat in the café run by the younger sister.
The younger sister with poor health was grinding coffee at the counter. And she muttered to herself without looking at the two of them.
“Onii-chan’s history, his blood, has been preserved.”
And… when the younger sister passed away, her grave was surrounded by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, just like in the final scene of the novel’s conclusion, which coincidentally became the ending of the movie version.

Yeah, that is truly awful writing. It is like the emo writer is trying to wring every last drop of woe out of the story without really telling a real story. They just wanted to pound on about the injustice while not explaining anything about what is going on. Like how did she kill everyone? I assume the string on the box was laced with something that released poison gas? The rest of it didn't make any sense either. Has the sister videoed the girl next door being railed out on the street and then Not produced it as evidence to save her beloved brother??? This author just wanted to write the most extreme sulk porn ever and didn't care if it made any sense.
It's hard to give an opinion on this story, a cool premise, but the clear lack of writing skill is cruel. Nothing makes much sense after brother's death, which leaves me feeling like a good idea was wasted.
This novel feels like a 14 year old trying to be deep after reading the other novels in this site, but not getting how to add nuance or set-up. He rushes through the story like he has a deadline or a word limit.
Let's have the brother commit suicide for no reason.
Let's have the family all talk about how they're all so misunderstood.
Let's have the family be revenged upon.
Let's have his sister write a super famous novel and lots of kids.
The end.
Thanks for the translation, but what a poorly structured and paced story.
I didnt expect this to drop out of nowhere, and still giving a questionable ending comparable to the previous chapter.
I don't really get it
loved this one! thank you!
