Chapter 48: The First “Who's Kazu's Legal Wife?” Meeting
Translator: Xre
The next day after school—
A makeshift conference room had been set up by bringing a desk and chairs into the underground archive room.
In attendance were me, and five girls.
Each of them sat quietly in their seats, wearing different expressions—for now, at least.
“Alright then—”
The one who took the lead, glancing around the round table formed by pushing together several long desks, was none other than Suzuka Kocho, the student council president known as a business genius.
“I’d like to begin the first Kazu Council. Since some of you are meeting for the first time, please introduce yourselves one by one. We’ll go clockwise. Starting with you.”
The girl who stood up when prompted had long bangs and a sweet voice—a voice acting genius.
“I’m Amane Minase, first year. I’m still a rookie, but I work as a voice actress. I met Kazu-kun here in this underground archive. He helped me practice when I was preparing for my CD debut. I think I was the first one here to meet him?”
She smiled brightly.
It was a casual self-introduction—yet subtly assertive. The old Amane-chan would never have done something like that. This boldness shows how much she's grown… though it still makes cold sweat drip down my back now and then.
Next up stood a short-haired student with chestnut-colored hair. Actually, a boy—not a girl—a theater genius.
“I’m Isami Shirasagi, third year of middle school. I’m in the drama club. I’m the youngest one here, so please go easy on me. Also—Minato-senpai?”
He turned his gaze to Amane-chan.
“I’m actually the first one who met Kazu. We've known each other since elementary school.”
“Shirasagi-kun, you're a boy, so you don't count.”
Amane-chan said it bluntly. But why doesn't being male count?
“Oh, well, I suppose that's true.”
Isami gave a gentle smile, playing the understanding junior role… but I saw it. Under the table, she clenched her fist tightly—like she'd just scored one.
Then stood a gal with reddish-brown hair tied in a ponytail—a dance genius. She passed the special student exam she was made to retake by the Pig, proving her talent.
“I’m Ayaka Ayukawa, first year. I’m in the dance club. Kazu and I got close at our part-time job, and I kind of taught him some stuff there~. I also give him fashion advice and stuff, so we're like, equals—but I guess I’m also kind of like his senpai? Or even his sensei? Anyway, we're close, so nice to meet you~”
It was a bright, breezy introduction—but her eyes towards the other girls had a certain sharpness. Also, wasn't Ayukawa trying to hide her part-time job?
“So, you were the maid that time,” Amane-chan said, having visited my workplace before.
“No wonder you were acting so familiar with Kazu-kun. Ufufu~”
“And I was like, ‘Ugh, coming all the way to his job to make a girlfriend statement? Annoying~' Ahaha!”
“Ufufu.”
“Ahaha.”
…They were both laughing—but their eyes weren't.
“Okay, okay, let's calm down, you two~”
The one who gently mediated in a relaxed tone was a girl with fluffy cotton-candy hair and soft, marshmallow-like skin—a painting genius.
“I'm Mashiro Watagi, second year. I quit the art club for various reasons and now just draw freely. I only met Kazu-kun very recently, but my love for him is definitely the biggest here! so nice to meet you~”
Amane-chan raised her voice.
“Watagi-senpai, that's not something I can let slide! Please take that back!”
“Yeah, obviously I love him the most!” Ayukawa threw her arms wide.
“I love Kazu thiiiis much!!”
Apparently “this much” meant the width of her outstretched arms.
Amane-chan stood up and shook her head fiercely.
“That's nothing! I love Kazu-kun from this wall all the way to that wall!! That much!!”
She ran from one side of the archive to the other to emphasize her point. Is this about distance?
“Aha, you two are so cute~”
Mashiro-senpai asserted her senpai status with a relaxed smile and raised a sketchbook she'd placed on the table.
“My love for Kazu-kun is this big—planet-sized!”
She had drawn a beautiful picture of Earth. She must've prepared it in advance.
“Ehehe. A visual victory~! Mashiro-chan wins~!”
“It's not a contest!! Don't declare yourself the winner, senpai!”
“That's right! If we're doing this, then I'll show my love with my voice! Kazu-kun, I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!”
Her voice shook the walls of the archive. As expected of a voice actress. But more than the volume, her gaze was intense.
“Then I'll dance!” Ayukawa flipped her skirt lightly and performed a graceful step, arms out like wings. A courtship dance? She winked every time our eyes met. Typical Ayukawa—full of passion.
…It's turning into a mixed martial arts match. Or more like a mixed romantic comedy battle? Or just plain chaos.
“Please don't dance in the archive—you'll stir up dust!”
“You're the one yelling too loud—you're disturbing people!”
“Okay, okay, calm down you two~ Let the senpai handle this?”
“Even if you're a senpai, I won't give up Kazu-kun!”
“That's right! And I'm his sensei, so I outrank you!”
As the three of them bickered loudly, Student Council President Suzuka leaned close and whispered to me:
“When did you gather so many concubines? What are you, a Daimyo in the Sengoku period?”
“It's not like I wanted to be popular…”
I could only scratch my head awkwardly.
President Suzuka pulled my arm close. Of all five girls—and probably even the entire school—she had the most… ample chest. It pressed against me.
“A man of your caliber… it's only natural you're popular. I won't make a scene like those girls—but—”
“…”
“I'm your official wife. Got it?”
“…………”
Her demand was heavier than the other three's, even though she said it so casually.
Ayukawa, ever sharp, noticed the move.
“Hey, President! What are you trying to pull, sneaking in like that!? Don't touch my Kazu!”
“Ayukawa-san, that skirt is way too short. It violates the dress code.”
“Why bring that up now?! And you're the one flaunting inappropriate physical contact!”
“That's right, President! Back away from Kazu-kun!!”
“Yes, yes~ If you want to touch Kazu-kun, bring a picture of the universe! Bigger than Earth!”
This was turning into a full-blown wildfire.
At some point, this had become a “Who Loves Me Most” meeting…
“Okay, okay, calm down, senpai ladies.”
It was Isami who spoke up.
The only one still calm—maybe because no one saw her as a rival. She'd quietly claimed the seat next to me and pressed her shoulder against mine.
“Today's meeting is supposed to be about Kazu-nii's club activities, right? Let's save the arguing for later, okay?”
When the youngest one—an underclassman—says that, even the four girls have no comeback. They looked sheepish and sat back down.
Then Isami whispered so only I could hear:
“Ehehe. No one realizes I'm actually a girl. Totally off the radar~”
Like a forward sneaking in for a surprise goal.
“What are you plotting, Isami?”
“Hmm. I'm going to have Kazu-nii all to myself! Because I love you more than anyone here!”
So much confidence.
“And the basis for that is?”
“Because I'm Il-chan! So I'm Number One~! Ehehe~ I love you, Kazu-nii~”
…That's just a pun.
Anyway, time to get back on track.
President Suzuka, as the oldest and the one who called the meeting, addressed everyone.
“Now that introductions are done, let's move to the main topic. I want to create a new club centered around Kazu Suzuki's exceptional talents. The reason I gathered all of you is because I'd like you to be members of this club.”
“A club needs at least five members, right?”
Amane-chan nodded.
Still glaring at the president, Ayukawa said:
“If I can do it alongside dance club, I'm fine. But like, what exactly will we do?”
“That's what we need to discuss. The best way to use Kazu-kun's superhuman abilities.”
The five girls pondered this seriously.
Then Isami spoke up.
“Wouldn't it be something martial arts-related?”
“I considered that too. But there are already clubs for judo, kendo, karate, boxing, wrestling, aikido, and even fencing. Starting a new martial art…?”
“How about a mixed martial arts club?”
“That's probably too inappropriate for a high school. I doubt the academy would approve it.”
At Teikai Academy, two conditions are required to start a new club:
1. At least five members.
2. The club must be recognized as beneficial to the school.
Unlike karate or judo, mixed martial arts has no high school tournaments. It's not even an Olympic sport. No matter how strong you are, it wouldn't enhance the school's reputation. The school's faculty wouldn’t approve something that doesn't benefit them.
“I don't think it has to be martial arts~” Mashiro-senpai raised her hand.
“Kazu-kun has amazing physical ability. He can probably do any sport, right?”
Even if you say that…
I've only ever done sports in PE, and even then, I just stood around so I wouldn't draw attention.
“Sports might be hard. There aren't many solo sports he can compete in.”
“Oh, true~”
Solo sports like track or swimming already had clubs.
There might be unexplored niche competitions—but if they're too obscure, the school won't approve them.
Just as the discussion seemed to hit a dead end—
“Yes!”
A clear voice rang out—Amane-chan raised her hand.
She seemed to have an idea.
“There's a perfect way to use Kazu-kun's talent! I'm sure you all know it, too!”
The other four girls looked confused.
Amane-chan looked around at each of them.
“I'm sure all of us—me, President Kochou, Shirasagi-kun, Ayukawa-san, and Watagi-senpai—are here because Kazu-kun helped us. Which means the best use of his ability is helping others. So—”
Her voice rang through the room.
“I propose we start a club that solves all sorts of problems and incidents at the academy. A Help Club. An Assistance Club! “
