Chapter 6: The Dead End

「―――― damn it!」

The roar of the great wolf that rings out as if to announce the start of the hunt, the huge shadow of the beast that leaps up with it, the hour of unilateral killing by the Greater Beast Garm ―――― I myself was the poor victim.

It was only a few seconds before Garm’s Fangs, which he used to eat and kill prey, could bite me.

I quickly put the broken sword in my hand and held it in front of my body, instantly putting all my strength into my body and immediately sought a way to survive ―――― My reason and instincts started to operate without limit.

My “ability level” is not enough to defeat the monster in front of me, I can’t fight a greater beast with my job class, and my skills are not enough to deal with the threat of the monster ―――― so, that means I’ll die quietly?

In the small gap of time it takes for Garm’s fangs to reach my body ―――― I thrust my sword forward.

I held the sword horizontally, a stance that would normally be inappropriate for a “sword stance” ―――― but I had other intentions.

Garm’s eyes, which were completely taken in by my aim, had a slight startling look, and at the next moment, with a heavy note as if metals clang violently, Garm’s sharp fangs bit down on the empty sky just a few steps in front of me.

No doubt ―――― this beast definitely dislikes blades.

Just as it avoids preying on thorny prey or gnawing on poisonous plants ―――― this wolf refused to let my sword hurt its mouth.

Perhaps, it has eaten a sword by a knight he ate and killed, or a veteran individual who crossed with a number of beasts.

――――I managed to avoid being bitten to pieces and dying instantly, but I was unable to stop Garm’s “power” as he leapt at me with great vigor. The impact of the sword poked by the fangs  together flew my body away.

――――For about three or four seconds, my body flew through the air and slammed against the rock behind me.

「Ah ―――― Ugh!!」

――――The impact of the crash makes my vision wobble and as soon as I vomit, severe pain spreads from my back.

The pain I had never experienced before, the searing pain that seeped into my body with each shallow breath, tied me up without allowing me to stay conscious and made  me faint.

I didn’t die, but it hurts to death. I even thought, 『Wouldn’t it be easier to just die?』 ―――― I even thought about it. 

But no one would help me, my enemies wouldn’t wait for me either.

「Aroooooooooon――――!」

As I clenched my teeth to the pain and stared at the disheveled sight, what was waiting for me was Garm, who suddenly drew a distance and raised his right forefoot wide in front of me.

―――― not good!

My body instantly forgot the pain from the attack that Garm was about to launch and I hurriedly kicked the ground and jumped away from the spot.

The next moment, Garm’s paw shook vigorously ―――― “Boom!!!!” it made a big crater in the place where I was not a while ago, with an  explosion-like sound.

「Damn, your attacks are too powerful…!」

If I had taken it head on, my body would have burst like a balloon. I could not help but complain in disgust when I saw the crater created right in front of me.

I was slammed against a rock and was not ready for my next action after avoiding the next bullet.

There was no way the ferocious beast would miss such a “good prey”, I saw Garm’s left front leg raised wide. I saw a crack in the ground that spread out from a crater that had formed in the ground.

Crack, crack ―――― A crack spreads, cracking the dry ground.

Garm is still unaware of the unusual things happening, as it is about to swing its deadly claws at me again.

Crack, crack ―――― I notice that the crack extends far out from the crater and behind me.

I have a bad feeling ―――― that Garm’s follow-up attack is about to cause more trouble.

However, even if I managed to avoid Garm’s attack and jumped backward, the signs of collapse had grown so great that it was too late.

――――The attack, which was unleashed with Garm’s roar, grazed my eyes and struck the ground, and with a loud bang the ground began to collapse.

It was even darker than the dark forest, and the abyss opened wide to eat me as I was about to fall on the hollow hole ―――― when I was thrown into the air, I had no choice but to fall.

「Ugh ―――― aaaaahhhh!」

I screamed out in a pitiful scream and fell into the cracked hole in the ground as if I was being sucked in.

The main culprit, Garm, was out of shape, but I didn’t have time to worry about that anymore. I was fall deeper and deeper with the broken pieces of the ground.
