Chapter 1: Prologue, part 3.
Translated and Edited by: ynlucca.
Common Honorifics:
-san: A polite suffix, but not excessively formal.
-kun: A common suffix among friends and younger people.
-chan: A common suffix among people you’re close with, mostly used for feminine nicknames and girls, since it’s cutesy and childlike.
-senpai: A common suffix and noun used to address or refer to one’s older or more senior colleagues in a school, workplace, dojo, or sports club.
I let my former sister into my house after her surprise appearance. Leaving her outside was out of the question; I was not so devilish as to leave her outside. As a good host though, I boiled some hot water in a stitched pot. Visitors were the last thing I expected, so I whipped something up just for her.
“Thank you…” With that, she drank the feeble tea I was only able to prepare. Sure, she was essentially surrounded by ruins, but the way she drank the (basically) flavored water was elegant.
“So? What do you want from me?” My tone came out sharper than usual. Needless to say, I was at least a bit skeptical that my former mother—or rather Mikiko—might’ve been plotting something. Even if that weren’t the case though, one could be forgiven for suspecting Saki’s sudden visit. I hadn’t heard anything from her in nearly a month after all.
“I came here because I had something to give you, brother.”
“Something to give me?”
“Yeah. Here,” she rummaged through her bag, pulling out what seemed like a bank book. It was one.
“And this is…?”
“It’s your father’s bank book. It’ll help you pay for school, right?”
“What?” She handed me the papers and I peered inside. There was a seven-digit number in the ledger. No way. I pinched my cheeks and looked again to see if I had added a few zeroes, or started daydreaming from exhaustion. Against my fears, however, it was the truth.
So long as I had these papers, I could go to even college without slaving myself away at part-time jobs. Despite it all, I had to wonder why she’d handed me such an important document.
“B, but how did you…”
Truth be told, I couldn’t believe Mikiko would hand over such a large sum of money just like that. From my years I could say she was a heavy spender and the type who’d blaze through this amount in a heartbeat. Saki’s expression was unreadable, leaving me unanswered.
“These were left by your father for you, right? It’s not for us to use willy-nilly.”
“Y, yes, but…”
“Ah, and Mom wasn’t involved with this. I took the money FYI.”
“Ha?”
Did she just mention something grave in passing?
“Aw, I bet she’s frantically searching all over the house for it right now. Hilarious stuff!” Her giggles befit a novel’s villainess. While I was relieved, I still could not understand her motives for going behind her mother’s back.
“Saki… I’m thankful you got this money, I really am, but why did you do it?” It’s not like she just waltzed into a kitchen and took a few cookies from a jar. There must have been a purpose for her efforts.
“As expected of my stepbro—Or rather, Akito-san… Yes, you’re right. I came here to ask you a favor.”
“I see…” It had been a long time since she called me by something other than stepbro or brother, so I was a tad nostalgic.
Before continuing though, she straightened her posture and looked into my eyes. Saki didn’t have to announce, I knew she was trying to tell me something important. Reciprocating, I straightened myself and waited for her next words with bated breath.
“Date me.”
Her words rang ineffably. Did she just say ‘Date me’? I asked myself. No, no, it must’ve been an auditory hallucination.
“Sorry, I couldn’t hear you very well. C, could you repeat it?”
“Yeah, I can. Date me.”
So I wasn’t schizophrenic. However, what she said was too much for my feeble brain to wrap its matter around. But before I could say anything in turn, she did the unthinkable.
“Yes! I finally got through!”
“Wha—?!”
Saki was so overwhelmed with emotion, she lunged and pushed me down. Then, she hugged me as a bear would and nuzzled her face onto my neck, breathing deep like a cave diver.
“Haah, haah… It’s been too long since I’ve last had a whiff!”
“Hey!”
Despite my protests, she just wouldn’t stop. On top of that, she was so close to me I couldn’t help but have my nose tickled by her shampoo. I staggered before continuing.
“Saki, let go!”
“Nope!” She didn’t even think. More and more, her smothering grew inescapable. “Haah, haah… Oh, how long have I waited for this! The moment I’d be reunited with you!”
As if it wasn’t enough, she parted her head from my neck and pinned me down, riding atop like I was some sort of weak horse.
“Bon appétit!” She licked her own lips.
“W, wait, stop! Stop! We’re family, aren’t we?!” I tried arguing to keep her in line somehow. Instead, her cheeks flushed pink as she gave me a hunter’s smile.
“Don’t be a cliché-monger, Akito. Ah, but don’t worry. We’re not family now.”
“Ah,” I had forgotten we weren’t siblings anymore due to her unrelenting attacks.
Then, her face poofed to a pout as she accused me. “Back then, whenever I asked you to get married to me, you’d say, ‘No, we’re family,’ wouldn’t you?”
“W, we were though, so it was only natural I refused. Plus, weren’t you joking…?”
“No way in hell I was joking. Aw, I was so serious, and yet you dumped me without so much as a thought… Every time you did, I’d wet my pillows, y’know?” She cooed, followed by crocodile tears.
“S, sorry…”
I never realized her seriousness… I thought to myself. Though her playful sadness soon turned real as her eyes drooped melancholically. “Then, I thought that if I could be with you, my beloved, I’d be okay with being just siblings. Not the best, but still better than nothing.”
“Saki…”
“But that old hag tried to get rid of you as soon as your father died,” she spat vitriol. “She thought there was no point in raising you after his death, as she always thought you were a burden.”
“I… I knew it…”
My small inkling wasn’t wrong after all. Even when my father was there, I had this gut feeling she pretended I wasn’t there sometimes. Still, I was shocked to learn I was treated like some sort of parasite from the very beginning. Though sad, it all became so much clearer to me.
“Let’s not talk about some old hag right now,” she whipped back right into hunting mode, undressing immediately.
“What are you doing?!”
“Huh? It’s obvious, isn’t it? We’re making a baby,” she didn’t flinch.
“That’s not what I meant!”
While I squirmed under her grasp, Saki took more and more garments off her body, until she had only her underwear between me and her birthday suit.
“Hehehe,” she giggled. “Why don’t you count the stains on the ceiling, Akito? It’ll aaaalll be over soon, handsome♡!”
“No, no, no! You can’t! We’re family!” I fell back right on that argument.
“Can you not parrot the same thing over, over, and over again? We are not siblings anymore. So there’s nothing wrong with this!”
“This is nothing but wrong!”
“Hehehe, don’t waste your strength resisting!” She grabbed the hems of her last bastion of sanctity.
What do I do? I screamed inside. If I don’t do something, my job will change from high schooler to father!
As a last-ditch attempt, I yelled desperately. “I get it, I’ll do anything you say! Just, please don’t do this!”
“Yeah, got it.”
“Please I… Hm? What?”
Saki got off me surprisingly easily. Then, she put her clothes back on and sat down with the same prim posture she had on before. Hers was the image of an angel incapable of evil, and her smile was bigger than before.
“I got your word on it, didn’t I?” She mused.
I was set up!
Defeated, I nodded back. So this is what she wanted from the very beginning… Just the thought of what she may request was enough to terrify me.
“Could you please not be so scared? It hurts me,” she pouted.
“S, sorry…”
“I’ll ask for apologies at another time,” she asked me more and more, though it had been my fault.
“As I said before, all I’m asking for is a relationship,” she stated matter-of-factly.
“Are you kidding?”
“Oh? Look me in the eyes. Do I seem like I’m joking?” She challenged.
“No…” I answered after a second.
Her eyes were locked straight onto mine ever since she got here. I could at least make out she didn’t have any ill intent from her candid stare. She was dead serious… But I just didn’t know how to respond.
Seeing my conflicted expression, she faltered. “Well, if you don’t like me, just say no… Then I’ll leave this bank book with you and walk right out, no complaints…”
“Y, you’re wrong!” I vehemently denied her mistaken reasoning. “I don’t dislike you at all, Saki! But all this time, I thought of you as a dear sister. I can’t just see you as a girl at the turn of a switch…”
I was honest and unhiding. She listened to me and nodded at the end, satisfied. “I see… Thank you for telling me what you felt, stepbro. But you know what?”
“Wha?!” She grabbed the collar of my shirt and pulled. Her face was so close to mine, I could feel her soft breathing grazing my cheeks.
“We’re not family anymore, okay? Just watch me,” she looked at me piningly. “I’ll make you melt with my charms. Until then, just go out with me,” she came at me with a commander tone, leaving no room for refusal.
“G, got it…” I had no choice but to surrender. Knowing I didn’t dislike her, she would push through by any means necessary. Case in point, she pounced earlier.
“You said you got it then, didn’t you? A man never backs down from his words, right?” She nailed me.
“Yeah. But I can only see you as a sister and childhood friend for now, okay?”
“Mhm. That’s fine for now. But, y’know…” She let go of my shirt, yet her eyes were still gripping. Her eyes dripped desire, and she had this sensual look on her face. “I can’t hold these feelings in any longer. We’re not siblings anymore, so it’s okay to get serious, right?”
That’s not the point! I wanted to say, but couldn’t.
“Suit yourself…” I sighed.
“Mhm, hehe! I can’t wait to start tomorrow.”
“That so…”
“Well, I’m going home for the day. See you at school tomorrow,” and she walked out of the house, leaving me stunned for a long while.
Thus, our relationship changed once more. First, we were childhood friends, then brother and sister… And now, we were lovers.

May 11, 2023 at 12:14 amI like this one, so I looked ahead with MTL. My only issue is it feels like things are drawn out too much, at least in the first 20 or so chapters.

May 21, 2023 at 3:57 pmThis was a good chapter, I’m impressed. Beginning wasn’t well-executed but good thing drama was skipped over.
But this MC reasons don’t justify anything, makes no sense to me
