V5. Prologue part 5
After all, it seems that my sister did not come back after school.
Well, Zeta is here, so I guess there is no problem if something happens.
I’m in the backyard of the dorm, grilling some dried horse mackerel that Zeta gave me. It’s past curfew, and already dark.
“I wonder if it’s almost done.”
I heard a delicious crackling sound as the fat from the horse mackerels fell onto the open fire.
“Should I grill it some more?”
It is not so bad to make a bonfire alone like this.
It purifies the mind. People rot their hearts just by being alive.
As I gazed blankly at the fire, I felt a presence approaching at an unbelievable speed.
“Boss! I finally found you!”
It was Delta who appeared with her dog ears twitching.
“Yaa. It’s late at night, so let’s keep it down.”
“Delta hunted the black jaguar!”
“I see. It’s late at night, so let’s keep it down.”
“Then Alpha-sama gave me a compliment!”
“Is that so? It’s late at night, so let’s keep it down.”
“I want you to praise me too, boss!!”
“Yosh yosh. Good girl!”
Delta’s tail wagged as I patted her head.
“It’s late at night, so let’s keep it down, okay?”
Delta replied briskly, covering her mouth with her hand in a panic.
“Delta, speak in a low voice.”
In a whispered tone, Delta said.
“So what do you want to say?”
“Yes. Delta dug the hole boss told me to dig.”
Little by little, her voice grew louder.
“A hole? Did I say that?”
Her voice became normal.
“I don’t remember that. Oh well.”
“Then I found this! It’s just like boss said it would be! It’s amazing!”
Delta smiles and bites on what looks like a bright red gem.
“Why are you biting it?”
“So I don’t lose it!”
When I received the jewel covered in Delta’s saliva, it was shining so beautifully red.
“This ……Ooh. I could sell it for a fortune!”
It was about the size of a marble, but the shine was extraordinary.
“Delta worked hard!!”
“Yosh yosh, good girl”
I patted Delta’s head messily.
Delta’s smile was melting.
“I want a reward!”
“Mmmm, it smells so good!”
The moment she looked toward the fire, the horse mackerel disappeared.
“Is this Delta’s reward!?”
Delta was holding it.
“No, it’s Zeta’s souvenir …….”
Delta was not listening.
Delta was happy as she bit into it with a crunch.
Well, it looks like Delta did her best.
“Nothing to do about it.”
Just when I was thinking that, I heard the sound of a tree branch snapping behind me.
“Doggie…..what are you eating?”
I turned around and saw Zeta standing there with icy cold eyes.
“Hmm, female cat!? Delta is eating her reward!”
Garuru, Delta throaty and menacing.
“I gave that horse mackerel to my Lord. Not for you, Doggie.”
“Go away! This is Delta’s reward!”
With that, Delta swallowed the horse mackerel whole.
Zeta screamed like an exhaled breath.
“It was delicious!”
Delta being laidback.
Zeta’s throat rumbled.
“Female cat is a nuisance, get out of my way or I’ll blow you away!”
“I prepared the most delicious horse mackerel for my Lord…… I won’t forgive you.”
“Now, now, now.”
I sensed that it was going to be a bit of a hassle, so I stepped in between the two of them.
Their gazes focused on me.
“Uhm, …… I was just grilling horse mackerels, and I never gave them away to anyone—“
When things look like a hassle, self-preservation is the first thing to do.
To avoid getting caught in the middle, it is important to show that it is not my fault and that I had nothing to do with it.
“—-So to speak, I’m not the bad person”
“Hmm, it’s not the boss’ fault.”
“Boss is not a bad guy!”
“Yes, yes, it’s not my fault.”
I was in charge of the horse mackerels. It was just an unfortunate misunderstanding that resulted in the horse mackerel being eaten.
Zeta and Delta pointed at each other.
“”—-It’s her fault!””
The next moment, their magic power exploded.
I was blown away by the blast and flew through the air.
When I landed after taking the impact, Zeta and Delta had also landed some distance away.
“I will never forgive this stupid dog …… who plundered the offerings to my Lord.
“Female cat who messed with Delta’s prize ……Unforgiveable!”
“Ah, uhm, I don’t know what it is, but it’s not my fault.”
I quietly moved away.
The two of them had always had a bad chemistry and often fought each other. They would fight until the house or field was half destroyed and Alpha would get really pissed off.
“Don’t overdo it, but in moderation.”
It was fortunate that the blast didn’t reach the dormitory.
“I’m going to beat you into pieces.”
Delta readies her sword and enters combat stance.
“I’m going to punish you.”
Zeta’s cold eyes narrowed and—- vanished.
Without warning, she suddenly vanished.
“Did she run away?”
Delta tilted her head.
At that moment, a black blade appeared behind Delta.
Just before she was about to be cut, Delta dodged by ducking.
She dodged in a reckless stance and rolled on the ground.
Zanpak, zanpak, zanpak. There, the black blades showered down.
Delta dodged them all.
She crawled on the ground, flipped, and leapt in a move that was almost impossible for a human to do.
“…..Where are you”
Zeta was nowhere to be seen.
Only countless black blades floated in the darkness.
—It’s that. This was the technique of the “Queen of Blood”.
Never thought Zeta could do it, and yet she seemed to be able to do it.
Zeta is the most dexterous person I’ve ever met.
No matter what I ask her to do, even if it’s her first time, she handles it all with dexterity. She grows up fast, has a great sense of style, and is perhaps the ultimate genius.
If it were only talent, she would be first-rate.
But the “gifted” Zeta has a major drawback.
Her tail floated in the darkness.
Unable to master a single trick, she was fickle and insatiable.
“Geez, lack of practice.”
Just before Delta’s mighty sword sliced it in two, the tail turned into a black mist and disappeared into the darkness.
Only Zeta’s voice could be heard.
“…… I’m going to get serious for a minute.”
With that said, the black mist gathered and created over ten thousand small blades.
The tiny blades soared up, encircling Delta.
“Certain death, thousand blades.”
This is a modest declaration, even though it clearly exceeded 10,000,000.
However, its killing power was immense.
More than ten thousand blades slashed through Delta and lifted her body into the air.
“Gah, guh …… guh.”
In the night sky, Delta was slashed one-sidedly.
She barely seems to be protecting her vital points with her limbs, but it may be a little dangerous.
Zeta is stronger than I thought.
She is a newcomer among the “Seven Shadows” but she is a monster who has grown at a substandard speed.……
Delta’s bellowing roar echoed through the air.
Tremendous magical power rushed through as a shockwave.
And then, ten thousand blades were obliterated.
Zeta, stunned, fell from the mist.
She landed like a cat, and in her line of sight was Delta, covered in blood.
Delta spat out a glob of blood and stared at Zeta.
The playful color disappeared from her eyes.
Zeta’s hair stood on end.
Delta manipulated the slime to create a huge black sword.
No, it was too massive and martial to be called a sword. We called it: Delta’s “Iron Ingot”.
Usually Delta imitates us and fights with similar weapons.
But that is not her true form.
This massive piece of iron is her true weapon and proof that the “tyrant” Delta has become serious.
Delta growled low in her throat.
Cold sweat dripped down Zeta’s cheeks.
I turned around and worried about the dormitory and the school building.
What should I do? I felt like it was going to blow up if I didn’t do something.
But it makes me so angry to be stopped in the middle of a grueling battle.
Don’t do to others what you don’t like being done to you.
Well, good-bye Midgard Academy, rest in peace, Hyoro and Jaga.
I bowed my hands together in my heart.
Delta’s real magic power converges on the iron ingot.
I backstep rather stiffly to keep my distance.
And Zeta…… flew through the sky.
Not figuratively or otherwise, she just flew purely in the sky.
When I strengthened my eyesight, I could see that it was covered with a fine black mist.
I didn’t know it could be used in that way.
“Bye bye, doggie.”
With these words, she flew away and disappeared into the clouds.
After a moment of blankness, her whole body shakes with anger, and Delta growls.
“W-wait female caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!”
And then Delta, too, vanished, leaving behind a gust of wind.
“In the end, it’s business as usual.”
The two had always been unable to settle their quarrels.
Either Zeta would run away, or Alpha would lose her temper. By the way, I’m a silent spectator.
Now, let’s go home and go to bed.
I noticed the presence of several people approaching.
I was surprised at how much noise they were making.
“This sign is… Alexia and her security guards.”
I put aside my worries and decided to see what was going on.
