“Well then, Ghazel and Armada ……, after assassinating my mother, you tried to take the House of Zafing for yourselves. You used the money that was meant for the people of House Zafing for your own greed.”
“I already have the proof. You have spent so lavishly in just five years. Do you have any excuse?”
Ghazel did not open his mouth. Even if he wanted to correct me, he couldn’t explain anything because I had already seized the poison, the merchant who supplied it, and the perpetrator. Of course, in his mind, he’s trying desperately to think of a way to get out of it, but he’s so confused that he can’t think straight.
“Apparently not. You guys …… have any idea how I got this evidence?”
“It’s simple. I was not the only one who had doubts about my mother’s death. Everyone in the service of the Marquis of Zafing. Well, except for the very few that Armada brought from Viscount Edior.”
“W-What do you mean ……?”
“You think you’re the head of the Zafing Marquess family when you’re just a married person who is “sincerely” loyal to the Zafing family. Furthermore, you are a mere breadwinner who has nothing to do with the business of the Zafing family. There’s no reason for you to be respected.”
Ghazel and Armada had nothing to say to the relentless evaluation.
“I have secretly ordered everyone to find evidence of Mother’s assassination.”
“You idiots have increased the servants’ obedience to me. And it didn’t take long for them to loosen up, making it easier for me to solidify the evidence.”
” Ah, ah, …….”
” Oh, and by the way, the hardest part was stopping the servants from trying to get rid of you when you insulted me and beat and kicked me as discipline. It was harder than I thought it would be to stop people from trying to do things for me. It’s because of me that your family is alive today.”
When I finished, Ghazel and the others looked into the faces of the servants. There was a clear look of anger on their faces. They know that my words are not a lie, as they have heard my orders and seized themselves.
“Well, I see you have no objections. I’m glad you saved me the trouble. Well, I’ll break it all down for you. Now, I will hand down your punishment as the Marquis of Zafing. You are hereby sentenced to death for the murder of Elphil, the former Marquis of Zafing.”
” It-It can’t be…..”
At the word “death sentence,” the two of them, or rather the rest of the Zafing family, were speechless.
“Giorg! You’re going to execute your father!!”
“T-that’s right! I am your mother, even though I am your stepmother. And yet!!”
Ghazel and Armada were agitated at the mention of the death sentence, but quickly began to argue with me for their survival.
“If you want to overturn the death sentence, prove that the evidence I have given you is wrong. Stop relying on blood relations. How can I ever forgive you for the way you’ve been treating me?”
“Don’t you have any compassion for humanity!!”
“Yes, you’re about to kill your parents and you don’t care!! Doesn’t it hurt your conscience!!”
“It doesn’t bother me at all.”
“Why should I?”
Both of them moved their mouths in response to my heartfelt questioning, but the words never became audible.
“First of all, conscience and compassion are things that should be shown to decent people, and I just don’t think you guys deserve them. Do you think you are worthy of being treated decently?”
“You killed my mother and got to do whatever you wanted for five years, so you must be satisfied, right? Well, no one will respect you, no one will grieve for you when you’re dead, and you’ve lived a very meaningless life.”
Ghazel and Amanda didn’t say a word to my comment.
They knew how vain and empty their lives had been. To have it pointed out to them was a gut-wrenching experience.
“Viscount Kalmais and Viscount Edior …… These two have been sentenced to death for the murder of the former Marquis of Zafing. If you have any objections, feel free to appeal to His Majesty the King. I don’t mind at all. Of course, if you want to help these two, both families will have to pay for it.”
The two Viscounts slurred their words. The evidence I have is something that the people themselves could not dispute. There is nothing to say that the evidence I have presented is all there is.
“Well, both Viscounts are decent and saved me a lot of trouble. Now that these two have been found guilty, we’ll have to clarify their relationship with the Viscounts.”
“What am I saying? It’s not unrelated since unaccounted money is somehow flowing to both Viscounts.”
The two Viscounts looked at me with a clearly frightened expression.
“Yes, yes, Viscount Kalmais, let’s hear your explanation for the money flow earlier.”
“Oya? I’ve given you plenty of time to think of an explanation.”
“I don’t have it…..”
“I see. Well, how about Viscount Edior? I didn’t give him much time to think, but that’s not a problem, is it?”
“I see. The amount of money flowing to the two families is substantial. I’m sure you’re using it for your own desires and not for running your estates.”
Both Viscounts’ complexions are beyond blue and have turned ashen. They are no longer sitting in their chairs, but kneeling on the floor begging for mercy.
“I am sorry, Marquis of Zafing!!”
“I promise!! I will pay you back!! Please have mercy!!”
“I don’t mind waiting for you to pay me back.”
“Thank you very much!!”
Both of them looked up at my words. Their faces regained a bit of life.
“Of course, we can’t do this without any conditions.”
“Both Viscounts shall retire and pass the title to their legitimate sons.”
Both of their faces darkened as they heard my words.
