Chapter 8: Villainous guild masters engage in mock battles with brave members.
Yui and I had come to the brave’s training grounds.
It’s located behind the guild hall, and it’s built like an arena, with enough space and structure to allow for rough play.
“Mmm! Act-san, what are you doing?”
In the training ground, there is the brave Lawrence and the party member Ulgar.
I heard he was caught right after that.
I stopped them before the braves returned to the royal capital.
“Lawrence, I just wanted to see how strong you’ve become.”
“So that’s it! You got it!”
Then Ulgar said in a mocking tone.
“Are you insane? Guildmaster, you are a non-combatant, right? The brave Lawrence has more fighting power than I do. You’ll die.”
“I see, then Lawrence is no big deal.”
The brave man rolls his eyes, but nods and smiles, “…… So that’s what you’re aiming”
“What are you talking about? Lawrence is strong! I’ve trained with him many times and I know that very well!”
“Lawrence was originally weak. You lost to him? Your strength isn’t a big deal, Ulgar .”
His self esteem is so strong that his face turns red and his shoulders are shaking.
“…… Don’t get carried away! Hey, Guildmaster! One on one against me!”
“What? What are you talking about? You’re not a combatant, Act-sama!”
Yui exclaimed with a blue face.
“All right, let’s see what you got.”
I took off my cloak and handed it to Yui.
“I’ll make you regret mocking this master spearman, Ulgar-sama!”
Ulgar’s weapon is a long spear.
I’ll face him with my bare hands.
“Stop it, Act-sama! You’ll hurt yourself!”
“It’s going to be fine, young lady!”
Lawrence, the brave man, tapped Yui on the shoulder.
“But Ulgar-san is strong, isn’t he?”
“Yes, he’s quite good! With Act-san’s education, he’s more than an S-rank adventurer!”
“What? S-rank? Isn’t that the highest rank! Act-san! Stop it!”
I separated from Yui and met him in the middle of the training area.
“Come at me anytime.”
“Han! I’ll make you cry!”
Ulgar held up his spear and rushed at me.
I half-twisted my body to dodge his spear attack.
I sweep Ulgar away with my foot.
He went straight into a dive on the ground.
“Wow, that’s amazing …… Act-sama, how could you avoid a blow that fast ……”
Yui looks at me and rolls her eyes.
“That’s Act-san’s Eye of the Time lord!”
An S-class appraising eye that can even read the flow of time.
It has a dynamic vision that surpasses that of normal people.
It sees through Ulgar’s attacks and uses its inherent time acceleration to dodge his attacks.
“What’s wrong? Is that everything you’ve got?”
“Damn it! You!”
He approaches and follows me with a series of sequential attacks.
“Wow, it’s so fast it looks like there are a hundred spears at once. I can’t believe you avoided them all! You’re too good, Act-sama!”
As long as I can see the attacks, it’s easy to avoid them all by using acceleration.
“You! You! Why! Why can’t I hit it? Damn it!”
He was getting impatient, and his attacks were becoming choppy.
Eventually, Ulgar stopped and breathed heavily.
“Yare, Yare a party of braves at this level. The level has dropped.”
“……! DON’T SCREW WITH ME!”
Ulgar glares at me, his fighting spirit raging.
“I’m not a fighter, and you can’t even touch me. That’s your limit. Know your place.”
“You’re wrong! I’m the strongest spearman you’ve ever seen!”
Go-o……! and an enormous amount of magic power gushed out from Ulgar’s body.
The amount of magic power is many times greater than the magic power I had when I started the guild The Gem of Heavenly Gift
“What the …… heck, I’ve got this much magic in me. …… Whatever! I’m sure with this I can win!”
Ulgar holds up his spear and concentrates his magic power in a single point on the tip.
Ulgar rushes forward at a very high speed, as he pierces the ground.
I accelerate and jump up to avoid his attack.
Ulgar crashed straight into the wall and collapsed on the spot.
“Damn ~ it…..”
I walked up to Ulgar, who was lying on his back, looked down at him, and said.
“I was looking forward to see how much you’d grown when I heard you’d joined the party of the brave, but I’m a little disappointed. All your old bad habits are showing.”
“Damn it, …….”
Ulgar gritted his teeth and pounded his fist on the ground repeatedly, as if he was disappointed that he had lost to me, a non-combatant.
“I can’t believe this guy’s playing me! DAMN IT! DAMN IT!”
I turned my head and left him.
“Wait a minute! Let’s do it again!”
“There’s no point in trying again. It doesn’t matter how many times you try, you can’t beat me even if you try a thousand times. You’ll just continue to look like a fool.”
I went over to the brave and patted him on the shoulder.
“I’ll leave the rest to you.”
Lawrence walked over to Ulgar, crouched down and said:
“Nice fight, Ulgar! Especially the final blow! All that practice paid off!”
“At this rate, you’ll be able to surpass Act-sama soon! Let’s keep training together!”
Ulgar sniffs and says emphatically.
“Just you wait and see, Guildmaster! I’m going to get stronger and make you cry!”
Later, in my office.
“Act-sama! Did you see the morning paper this morning? It seems that the party of braves defeated one of the Four Heavenly Kings!”
Yui came to me with a newspaper.
“The article says, “The new member, Ulgar, the spearman, has been doing remarkably well, and it was he who delivered the final blow into the heart of the Four Heavenly Kings.””
I listened to Yui’s story as I worked on the paperwork.
“The other day in the mock battle, you intentionally did something like that to motivate Ulgar, right?”
“You’re thinking too much. Yui, get me a coffee.”
Yui made a cup of coffee and put the cup down on the table.
“As expected of Act-sama, you deliberately played such a villainous role so that Ulgar-san could be a true member of the heroic party!”
“Nonsense. I just wanted to know the current strength of the brave (Lawrence). It was Ulgar who came at me, and I had no other intention than to brush him off.”
Yui looked at me with a deepening smile on her face.
“You are the best guildmaster in the world after all! I’m going to study hard to become a good guildmaster like Act-sama!”
Is she still trying to use me as an example?
Well, there’s even a word for it: reflection.
Let her remember me as a bad example and let her grow up to be the best Guildmaster she can be.
“Yui, you better watch my back.”

Quite sad that I read this after I saw the vol. 2 illustrations and realized that it was dropped. I hope someone continues this in the future or even picks up the LN.
