Sousuke and Wakaba were heading to the entrance of the school after the first meeting of the Public Morals Committee. It seems that Wakaba’s friends went home before her because they had a gathering.
“So, who’s in trouble?”
“Someone I’ve been indebted to for a long time, who runs a little store, but recently there’s been a lot of slander on the Internet. I think you might be able to solve this problem.”
Sousuke looked stunned.
” Who do you think I am? What makes you think I can solve it? Why don’t you tell me something concrete first?”
“It would be faster to ask from the person herself, wouldn’t it?…..I mean, you’re going with me, aren’t you? I thought you would just say no.”
“I’ll listen to what you have to say. You seem to be willing to pay for everything.”
As the shoebox came into view, he noticed that Shion was waving her hand. Masaki was also next to her. She said she would wait until it was over, though, as it was the first meeting of the public morals committee.
“Sou-chan, good work, how was it…… eh?”
She blinked her eyes at Wakaba who was following behind him.
Masaki also looks at Sousuke and Wakaba alternately.
“What’s the status?”
They had been at each other’s throats for the past week. It would be a surprise if they walked side by side.
At any rate, he told them that the shoebox harassment battle was settled and that he was now going to go talk to a friend of Wakaba who knew her. The two of them decided to follow in that vein, but since Wakaba didn’t seem to mind, Sousuke didn’t say anything either.
“Slander …… surely Sou-chan can handle it.”
Shion says with a serious expression as they exit the main gate of the school.
“No, on what basis?”
“Haha, I think Sugaya would be able to do something about it, right?”
Wakaba nodded her head vigorously.
“It’s not that I wanted to ask this guy to do something for me. It’s just that he’s in a lot of trouble and I feel like I can’t leave him alone.”
The eyes of Sousuke narrowed. Wakaba quickly averted her gaze.
The two are now in an unshakeable hierarchical relationship. Wakaba’s eyes quickly narrowed as she looked away.
“So, Hashirama’s house is behind the station, right?”
Masaki nodded in response to Shion’s question.
“There are shopping streets all over the place, right? The store is at the back, down a side street.”
Apparently, the store specializes in baked goods such as cookies, biscuits, and macaroons. The owner is a 24-year-old woman. To Wakaba, she was a “neighbor sister” who took care of her parents who were working together.
At the same time, Shion walked in front of Wakaba and stood next to her.
“Hashirama-san, this may be none of my business, but I don’t think you should make an enemy of Sou-chan any more than you have to, okay?”
Wakaba looked at her with a faraway look.
“Yeah. I’ve already experienced that so painfully that I’ll never go against him. He’s something in the skin of an Otaku. That guy.”
“But he’s gentle at heart, you know?”
Wakaba walked along, staring ahead for a while.
“He’s certainly very kind. Even though I did such a …… terrible thing to him.”
The next words didn’t follow.
Shion did not continue, but gave a small nod.
Entering a side street in the shopping district, they came to a one street back. Across the narrow street, a small log house style building can be seen. Curtains were drawn and the word “close” was written on the door.
Wakaba went around to the back of the building with a familiar look. It seems to be a residence together with a house. When she went around to the back, she found the front door as usual.
When she rang the intercom, the sound of the key being unlocked was heard, and the door slowly opened.
The woman who answered the door was the owner, Nanaka Notake, whom he had heard about from Wakaba. Her hair was tied up in a single knot and she wore glasses. She did not give the impression of being untidy at all. She was wearing a blouse and a long skirt, and her makeup was neatly done.
“Wakaba? ……What’s wrong?”
There is no energy in her voice. If one looks closely, the face is gaunt. At least she doesn’t look like she’s lost weight in a healthy way.
“Is that continuing?”
Nanaka looked gloomy, then nodded slowly.
The ringtone of a landline phone rang through the house.
Nanaka opened her eyes, covered both ears and started shaking.
“…… no ……”
Wakaba hurriedly supported her shoulder.
Sousuke, Shion, and Masaki watched Nanaka, not knowing what to do.
“In the meantime, …… Sugaya, you’re up.”
“What the hell”
Wakaba pointed her finger at the back of the house.
The caller is probably a bad guy, so say something.
“If it’s bad, just ignore it or hang up right away.”
Sousuke looks at Nanaka. She is shaking in an unusual way, and is certainly overreacting to the sound of the phone.
Sousuke walked past Wakaba and the others.
“Excuse me for the intrusion.”
The landline phone is on a long, narrow platform, halfway down the hallway, and the call is coming from a blocked number.
Why should he answer the phone at someone else’s house?
Sousuke had no choice but to pick up the receiver and put it to his ear.
[“You’re going to die.”]
The volume of his voice sounded like it was ready to destroy his eardrums.
Surely, it sounds bad. It is not good to deal with them normally. Let’s be strong.
Sousuke took a quick breath.
[Hurry up and die, you amateur]
“Oh? Who the hell are you?”
Sousuke said in a low voice, and the caller stopped speaking. He gulped in surprise.
And then the caller hung up.
