Chapter 35: Most summer diaries are made up.
Translator: Soafp
TL: Context, he is writing bs in his logbook/diary
[August 31st, sunny
Today is the last day of summer vacation. Most of the students on this day are either relaxed because it’s their last day off, depressed because the second semester starts tomorrow, or desperate because they can’t finish their assignments. I’m the type that gets depressed. As I sat by the window, looking up at the clear sky, I wondered if the day the world would end would be a beautiful day like this. I’ll do my best again tomorrow.]
After writing that much, I closed the logbook.
“Okay, that’s the end of the logbook.”
“Did you really write everything down…?”
My sister, Sakuya, looked at me indescribably, but I didn’t care.
I don’t have time to write a logbook every day. No one can write every day properly.
“Well, I’ll write a few days at a time later, but it wouldn’t be called a logbook if you wrote it first?”
“It’s okay because there’s a term in the world called a diary.”
It’s not like a manga where you write about what’s going to happen.
“…… It says you’ve been to the mountains and the sea three times, are you planning to?”
Sakuya, who was looking at my diary, asked me that.
“I have no plans to do so. There aren’t many things to write about in a logbook. I just wrote what I thought would be appropriate. The homeroom teacher won’t even look at it properly anyway, so it’s okay to write the same thing several times.”
If I were to write down what really happened, my summer vacation diary would just be about how I played video games all day and nothing happened.
“I see…”
For some reason, Sakuya is depressed. I’m not sure why, but the page she’s opening says she went to the beach with her family. I wonder if she wanted to go?
“Poridge…horse….Can you tell me what some of the pages say?”
“As I said before, there aren’t many things to write about in a diary, so I wrote about a standard diary topic. I’m hoping I’ll be overlooked as an attempt to be funny.”
By the way, it’s a story for about ten days. If I didn’t, I really couldn’t think of anything to write.
“…………”
I think Sakuya is giving me a dumbfounded look, but I ignored her.
“If you can’t think of anything, then why did you write it on the first day of summer vacation…?”
As Sakuya said, it is only the first day of summer vacation and it is still July. I’m the type of person who finishes all of my summer vacation assignments at the beginning of the vacation so I can spend the rest of the vacation playing without any worries. Next time, I’ll do the modern literature assignment.
“Onii-chan, I need you to teach me this part.”
“Oh, this is…”
Sakuya, perhaps influenced by me, is also working on her summer vacation assignment. I don’t have air conditioning in my room, so I’m doing it in the living room, but I wonder if it’s the same for Sakuya. It’s only mid-morning, but without air conditioning, it’s too hot for us to get any work done. Global warming has to stop.
“…………”
“…………”
I worked on the assignment in silence for a while, occasionally answering Sakuya’s questions.
“You can use this formula here.”
“Thank you, Onii-chan. …… Let’s take a break soon. I’ll go make some tea.”
“Oh, please.”
I looked at my watch and saw that quite a bit of time had passed, but the assignment was progressing well. At this rate, it will be finished by the end of July.
“Here you go, Onii-chan”
“Thank you.”
I drank the tea that Sakuya made for me and took a break.
“……, the diary you just wrote…”
“Hmm?”
As I was sipping my tea, Sakuya suddenly opened her mouth.
“It’s not good that most of what is written in the diary is false, so why don’t you go out with me to create some material to write about?”
Does she still want to go out? I’m sure Sakuya has no shortage of people to go out with. That’s what I thought as I looked outside.
If it’s this hot in July, I’m afraid it’s going to be bad in August. I don’t feel like going outside anymore.
But it was unusual for Sakuya to ask me out.
…… when I feel like it.”
In the end, I answered that way. People like this don’t have the inclination to stay as they are, so it’s more than half a refusal.
“Yes, let’s go out sometime soon.”
I wonder if Sakuya knows what she’s talking about when she doesn’t set a specific date. Well, if she really wants to go, she’ll propose it again.
Well, what about the young lady who asked me to explain about my relationship with Kusunoki? She doesn’t know my contact information.
Oh well, it doesn’t matter.
I changed my mind and worked on the assignment again.

January 21, 2022 at 12:26 amAWWWWW…….I wanted to see how Renya escaped from the young lady misunderstanding Kusunoki for some reason(for her own self-satisfaction). As well dealing with his ex-childhood friends(especially the girls). It must have been annoying as hell. Worse part is his ex-chilhood friends(especially the girls) will try to butt in his oasis.
It seems that Renya’s sister was trying to connect with Renya using the vacation as an excuse but it will backfire somehow.
I really want Renya to tell the handsome dude that plays soccer, and want him to continue even thought he doesn’t want to, to f**k up….whoops, i mean to stop. I mean, from a third person perspective is annoying from a first person perspective must be even more…and i’m sure he is not thinking about Renya’s will.

February 4, 2022 at 11:59 amLet’s see, if I had to write daily, it would be any achievements I got in my games like winning a dragon 1 lobby or finally getting 180 gems (which I did 2 days ago) as well as the videos I watched (clips of Subaru’s voice over a duck which I did like 5 minutes ago) and any notable food I had, like fish and chips or chicken hearts… damn, now I’m hungry.

December 30, 2022 at 2:28 amHonestly, his relationship with Sakuya seems to be the most salvageable. Putting aside whether or not they should actually reconcile, of course (though really they—no, Sakuya just needs to bear her heart clearly and whatever happens after that will happen). Not sure about his relationship with his parents, though, considering we haven’t actually seen what the dynamic between them is like. Iirc one of Sakuya’s earlier POV sections briefly glossed over how they interact with each other.
The childhood friends are a different story entirely though. Not sure what the right call is there. Obviously not trusting him dealt a heavy blow to him, regardless of if their hearts only momentarily wavered or they ended up genuinely believing it, so returning to how they used to be is definitely impossible. Well, even if they didn’t have any history and tried to approach him now I doubt he’d be the same as he was back then. He seems to enjoy his alone time.
Fujibayashi has the hardest road ahead to try and reconcile with him considering the last fight they had before the girl that accused him was caught.
I know most of this comment has jack to do with this chapter but I didn’t comment on any of the previous chapters so I decided to try and condense my thoughts here.
