Chapter 11: Parent’s House
The five-day Golden Week holiday has started and today is the third day. Yesterday I was feeling a little excited, because I made two new friends, but today I’ve been feeling depressed, as I have to go to my parents’ house.
Five days ago, I was asked to work a part-time job at a coffee shop, and when I said I’d love to, they handed me some papers. If you’re a minor and want to start working, you need your parents’ consent. They need to sign and seal the document. I had informed them the other day that I was going to work part-time somewhere and needed their signature. All I had to do was go there, hand over the documents, take back the documents, and come back. It’s done in no time, but it still makes me feel depressed having to go over to my parents’ house.
After an hour and ten minutes on the train, I arrived at the nearest station to my parents’ house. I only had to walk another ten minutes to reach their house, but my legs were heavy.
In the end, it took me about 20 minutes to reach the house, a distance that usually would have taken me half of that. I had my keys with me, so I unlocked the door and pulled it open. I wonder if I should say that I’m home, but the words got stuck in my throat and they wouldn’t come out.
“Welcome home.”
It was my mom who welcomed me. She told me that dad was at work and wouldn’t be home.
“Oh, ……, yes. Then, please sign this.”
I handed her the documents and a ballpoint pen. I was going to ask her to fill out the form and then I’d be on my way, but she said “It will take some time to read the documents, so go upstairs and wait in the living room.”
I went to the living room and found my sister Haruka sitting on the sofa. Haruka opens her mouth with an indescribable look on her face.
She says, “Welcome back….”
“Oh, …… yes.”
After that, I didn’t have anything in particular to talk about, so I left the living room. I wanted to see my old bedroom, so I headed over there.
When I opened the door and looked inside, I was surprised to see that it was exactly the way I had left it. The room I had spent my junior high school years in. I had left most of my things in my bedroom, when I decided to leave everything behind. It looked like my bedroom has been kept clean and in good condition. I was reminded of my junior high school days, and I felt a little sick, but that soon dissipated.
I opened a cardboard box in the back of my closet. The box was tightly taped shut. After opening it, I grabbed one of the books in there. What I had in my hand was my old diary. It was a diary that I had written in, in the third year of junior high school.
Looking at what I had written, I realized that the diary only consisted of terrible memories. At that time, I had thought that I would never make friends again and that I didn’t need them. And yet, within a month or so of entering high school, I had made two friends. Not so long ago, this diary was just something that could ruin my mood, but now I want to tell my past self about the present.
As I was thinking about this, I heard a knock at the door. As I try to put my diary back in the box, the door opens with a bang. …… This is Haruka, isn’t it? Haruka has been knocking for a long time, but I never gave a reply
“Big Brother, mom asked if you want to eat dinner.”
“No, thank you. I’m going home.”
“…… Okay.”
I don’t feel comfortable in this house, and I’m sure Mom and Haruka would be happy to see me leave too. I wonder if my mom has already signed the contract. If so, let’s go home.
I put the diary back where I had found it in the box and closed the closet.
When I went back to the living room, I found the documents with her signature and seal on it, in an envelope. I thanked her and put it in my bag.
“Okay, I’m going home.”
“Hey, Shota. Aren’t you going to stay for dinner?”
“No, thanks.”
I went to the front door. My mother, who had been busy in the kitchen, came rushing to the front door, looking a little flustered, as I was putting on my shoes and placed my hand on the doorknob.
“I’m sorry for bothering you.”

April 8, 2021 at 1:29 amInstead of being flustered she could have tried to sit him down and talk to him properly but I guess we wouldn’t have a story if people did so. I wonder if it really was only that one moment that caused all of this and things just continued to become worse and worse over time or if there are other happenings we still don’t know about.

April 8, 2021 at 2:04 amIn my humble opinion, since the time they didn’t believe him i can only see everything go downhill at the speed of light……honestly, i still can believe they wouldn’t listening to him.

Reap the consequences of trusting baseless rumours over your own f*cking family.
Despite living the same happiness, same sadness, same circumstances, despite growing up together since birth, the family offered not a speck of emotional or physical support. They straight up devoured and shat out the facts laid before them, believing only what they were hand-fed. F*cking Facebook mums, conspiracy theorists, and those bloody Flat Earthers. YOU NEED VALID EVIDENCE TO PROVE A POINT!!!
Honestly, the grandparents might be gods at this point as everyone knows nothing positive was learnt elsewhere.
