It had been a nightmare of a week for Eliza.
The Thirteen Night Swords were being slaughtered one after another, and finally, her father had become one of the missing.
The assets of the Dacuaycan family were seized one after another under the guise of an investigation, and eventually, they were evicted from their estate.
Eliza felt that with each passing day, people and money were slipping away from her.
“Don’t mess with me!”
Eliza shouted in her temporary lodgings. She angrily slammed a half-empty glass against the wall and glared with fury.
“All this time, they’ve been flattering and fawning over me…”
Why did she have to go through this? It was likely that they would lose the lawsuit as it stood. Many nobles had already distanced themselves from the Dacuikan family.
“It’s not over yet, it’s not over yet…”
However, not all the nobles had abandoned them. Their bond with the Night Sword families was unbreakable.
Their house had also lost its head, came under investigation, and was going through a difficult period. But it was precisely because of this that they could unite.
“We’ll gather the next generation of the Night Swords and hold a meeting! Gather people!”
Eliza called out to her subordinates who were supposed to be waiting in the adjoining room. However, no one appeared, no matter how much time passed.
“Is anyone there? Is anyone here?”
She opened the door to the adjoining room with a bewildered expression.
But there was no one inside.
The window was wide open, and the cold night air was flowing in.
“Did someone go to the restroom or something? I’ll punish them later.”
She said with a cruel smile.
At that moment, strange footsteps sounded behind her.
“You’re here, aren’t you? Where did you…”
Eliza’s voice, as she turned around, fell silent.
There was a bloodied clown.
“Ah…Ja… Jack the Ripper…”
She stood still, staring blankly, and took a step back.
The bloodied clown closed the distance with a quick step.
“No, stay away!”
She threw whatever she could find at him, but it did not stop the bloodied clown, and Eliza was cornered against the wall.
“Sorry, I apologize… What are your demands?”
Eliza tried to flatter him with a forced smile.
“Hey, what do you want? I’ll listen to anything…”
She looked up with a seductive voice, her negligee casually slipping off her shoulder, revealing her white skin.
Jack the Ripper stared at her intently.
Watching his reaction, Eliza continued to let her negligee slip.
The gaze fell on her white bosom.
A knife was thrust into it.
Red blood dripped from her pale skin.
“Aaaaah! You’ve done it! How dare you!”
Eliza struck Jack the Ripper with all her might, and then fell to the floor, clutching her chest wound.
Jack the Ripper’s mask had come off.
It must have come off when Eliza hit him. The mask lay on the nearby floor.
The face of Jack the Ripper was that of a student Eliza knew.
It was Christina Hope. She looked down at Eliza with a cold gaze.
“Cough… You can’t be… Jack the Ripper…”
In a surprised and bewildered expression, Eliza spoke.
Blood dripped from her chest, spreading on the floor, gradually swallowing the mask.
“It’s not me.”
She picked up the mask.
“Not you? What do you mean?”
“I just inherited his role.”
“Yes. He appeared in front of me before. I finally understand the meaning of it.”
“He showed me the mission, the path stained with blood.”
“What are you talking about…”
“This country is corrupt. The blades of justice are useless. To cut down evil, you need even greater evil. He asked me if I had the determination for it.”
Then, Christina put on the clown’s mask, wearing a twisted smile.
“It’s what I’ve been waiting for.”
Saying that, she gripped the knife in Eliza’s chest.
That became Eliza’s final cry.
Christina twisted the knife and pulled it out swiftly.
A large splash of blood filled the air.
Looking down at the now lifeless Eliza, Christina took out a playing card.
She inserted it into the wound on Eliza’s chest.
“My name is Jack the Ripper… The blade of evil that cuts through evil…”
The image on the playing card was the Joker.
