Chapter 7 | It Is Best, To Be Honest With Each Other
After getting through weekday classes, the day of my redo date with Rinka finally arrived.
We took the train for less than an hour.
We arrived in Onomichi, a city of sea, mountains, and hills.
I had never been to Onomichi, and I had left all the date planning for the day to Rinka.
“Since it was me who said I wanted to go there, of course, it was my job to make plans, right?” she said.
I was a little nervous about not knowing where we were going, but more than that, I was excited.
My first impression of Onomichi Station was that it was surprisingly clean.
It seemed to have undergone renovation work just recently.
As I was thinking about this, someone pulled my hand from where it was tied.
“Then let’s go.”
Seeing Rinka smiling at me in a pleasant way, I knew I had come to the right place today.
The first place I visited after arriving in Onomichi was a ramen shop. It was a bit far, about a 30-minute walk from the station.
Rinka had been to this ramen restaurant once before, and she was walking around with a childlike smile on her face, saying that it was really delicious and that she should try it once.
Normally, she is very careful about her diet and doesn’t eat anything high in calories, but today was a different story.
I was thinking that this would be better than having lunch at a fancy café because it was a date and she seemed to be getting along better.
“There’s no way we’re going to go to a ramen shop on a date, right?”
She asked anxiously with a weak look on her face.
“I thought it would be better to eat what I like with the person I like than to go to a fancy place.”
Unexpectedly, my right hand patted her head.
Good girl, good girl.
“Ehehe, I wonder if that’s true.”
She hugged me from the side even though we were walking next to each other.
She was smiling happily, and I touched her cheek.
She turned on the lovey-dovey switch, too, puffing out her cheeks and rubbing her hand against my cheek.
Then we arrived at the restaurant another 30 minutes after we were supposed to.
Even though we arrived early, before noon, people were already lined up outside.
I guess it was because it was a holiday, but I had no idea that the restaurant was so popular.
We finally made it into the restaurant but were shown to a counter seat.
We could have sat at a table that seats four if we wanted to, but we didn’t because we had to wait a little longer and we felt uncomfortable sitting at a table for two.
The restaurant was not as large as I had expected, and it seemed that only about 20 people could be seated at a time.
After agonizing over which one to choose, I decided to follow the advice of the angel next to me, who told me that it was impossible to come to Onomichi and not eat Onomichi ramen.
The ramen that was brought to me was very tasty. I have never had better ramen in my life. However, the angel next to me held my hand while I was eating, so I couldn’t concentrate on eating the whole time.
I made sure to drink all the soup and left the ramen shop.
We had to go back the way we came, but it was a long way. I got a cute request for a piggyback ride, but I couldn’t readily grant it considering the distance we had to cover. I wish I had more physical strength…
She looked up at me in disapproval, seeming slightly dissatisfied with my refusal.
Naturally, I want to do something to this cute little angel, so I patted her head.
It’s not mandatory but if you like my TLs and want to support me you can do it on Ko-fi and Patreon.
