Chapter 7
Author: gucchi
TL: N. Irene
(tl: Could someone tell me if they prefer ‘Sofia’ or ‘Sophia’? Please comment)
“Really? But it’s delicious, isn’t it? So I want to give it to Eliza.” I said to Eliza.
“No, I don’t want it!”
“Sofia, you know this was prepared for you, don’t you?
“If you don’t eat it, the chef will be sad. He went through a lot of trouble to make it for us.”
Did she know that I was intentionally refusing to eat?
She is two years older than me, but I really want to laugh at her tact.
Maybe that’s why the abuse Eliza has been doing up until now has not been exposed.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t want to eat.” I said
“I sorry for forcing you but I just thought that the chef would be happy if Eliza ate a little bit.”
“But I’ll really want to give you all of it. It’s good, isn’t it?”
“I, I’m afraid I can’t. I have my own”
I almost laughed unbearably when I saw Eliza panic.
She had seen that I had smirked, and I could tell that Eliza was angry from her frown.
At this rate, he’s about to say something now.
“… you look like you think the food is poisoned.”
“Aren’t you being disrespectful to my father, who is hosting this dinner party?”
Irritated, my uncle threatened me in a loud voice.
Although he is the third prince, he is the half-brother of my father since he was born to the queen’s side. (tl: I’m not sure about this but maybe the grandfather had two wives?)
He has a rather unattractive face, I wonder how he has so many mistresses.
My father and mother did not look at me, as if they had not heard anything.
I had no choice but to listen silently to my uncle’s continued complains without refuting him.
I don’t care what he says, I’m not going to eat rotten food, and if he hits me here, I’m done with it.
I was hoping he would get angrier, but His Majesty stopped him.
“…Sofia doesn’t seem to be feeling well.”
“Sofia, you can go back now and rest.”
“Father!” shouted my uncle.
“What’s wrong with me allowing her to go home, since I called her?”
“This is why they say Sofia is a selfish princess!”
“If you don’t discipline her properly, she will take advantage of you!”
“Oh, really? Sophia will take advantage of me?”
“Am I mistaken?”
“You have no right to the throne, but Sophia does.”
“She is a royal while you’re just a vassal, you have no right to discipline her.”
My uncle looked as if he couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
“Father? I am your son!”
“Does that even matter? The duke is no longer royalty.”
“The order of succession to the throne is the crown prince Daniel, then Sophia, then the second prince Fritz followed by Fritz’s children.”
“You and your family are mere dukes, and the difference in status is clear.”
“Keep that in mind, Edgar.”
“Make sure you reflect on this, if you do that again, you will no longer be invited to the dinner parties.” His Majesty warned him.
“…….”
My uncle’s face turned red with anger.
The duchess and Eliza hung their heads low in embarrassment.
But still, what my grandfather said was true.
Even if they thought differently, they wouldn’t be able to talk back because they were nothing in front of the royals.
The dinner continued but the air felt heavy now.
All three of them were eating quietly, but I could see that their anger had not subsided.
Grandfather…did he intentionally make the three of them angry?
Well, that would be better for me.
Let’s just pretend I didn’t notice anything and quickly leave this place.
