Chapter 6

I returned to my room and collapsed on my bunk… and was roughly woken up.
I peered out the window, it was dark, and it was already time for the dinner party.
Only once a month, during my grandfather’s visit and the dinner party,
The servants couldn’t stop calling me, as expected.
A grumpy-looking old man servant kicking my bed seemed to have woken me up.
I was not particularly surprised since it is usual to be woken up like this.
This too would be reported to me by the surveillance.
Wishing I could have stayed in bed, I followed the servant to the dining room.
I followed the large servant as he walked at a brisk pace.
There was no way he was going to walk slowly or talk to me out of concern.
I managed to keep up with him and arrived at the dinner party place, nearly out of breath
Everyone had already taken their seats.
My grandfather was at the far end, and my father and mother were next.
My uncle, the duke, the duchess, and, finally, Eliza were seated.
My uncle began to protest loudly since I was the last to arrive.
“What’s the matter with you making your father wait?” he said, “You’re being very self-centered.”
“Yes.”
I said honestly and sat down.
It is a farce that I am tired of, because he deliberately comes to pick me up to be late.
Eliza giggles when she realizes I’m upset.
“Don’t be so furious, Father. Sophia is still a young girl. She’ll be late for supper since she’s still a small girl. Shouldn’t we eat now?”
“Yes, let’s.”
To the outside world, she may look like a kind princess who protects the failed Princess.
But in reality, she just wants to harass me by serving me rotten food as soon as possible.
As usual, all the meals brought to me are made of rotten ingredients.
It must be a shame for the chef to have to cook with rotten ingredients.
Seeing the meal stink as soon as it is served made me feel sick.
Even with the sauce on, the meat and veggies below were rotting and unsightly.
I wonder how long it will take me to finish today.
The duchess frowned at me as I stared absentmindedly at the food and didn’t take a single bite.
“I know you have many likes and dislikes, Princess Sophia,” she said, “but it would be better if you ate at least a little bit of it, wouldn’t it?”
She smiled at me with a good-natured face.
But she could obviously tell there was something wrong with the food.
The smell was unmistakable, and I can’t cover it up.
How could she not smell it?
And my parents would probably have noticed it, too,
They think that talking to the duke and his wife isn’t going to help them in anyway. It would only bring trouble.
I think they think it is fine as long as it is good for them,
I wonder if that is the reason my grandfather hasn’t left the throne.
If the country is left to these two, it will be gone in no time.
“I’m not feeling well and I’m sleepy.”
“I don’t think I can eat very much.”
“Oh, it’s very tasty!”
“I’m sure you’ll feel better after eating!”
Hmm…. I guess I don’t have to hold back.
I only have a month, so I want to gather evidence efficiently. Untill then…I’ll fight back a little.
I will have fun tricking Eliza too.
“How about you eat it?”
“What? I, I don’t need that, it’s for you, after all.”
