“Why did you get rid of the main lady-in-waiting?”

“Oh…I believe you’ll learn that if you keep an eye on her as well.”

“The abuse towards me is being handled directly by the chief lady-in-waiting.”

“What?”

I’ve been wondering who caused this circumstance since I remembered my previous life.

If there was a mastermind, it was someone with power in the royal court who was collaborating with him.

It immediately dawned on me that it had to be the chief lady-in-waiting.

“It would be strange if she wasn’t.”

“I am the only princess since Eliza’s father; the third prince is a duke, but I reside in a room at the West Palace’s far end.”

Before…

“By all rights, I should be residing in the main palace, right?”

“Haha! What is it that you wish to reside in the main palace?” laughed the chief lady-in-waiting.

‘That is not a place for you to dwell.”

I know that too.

I live at the far end of West Palace. Nobody expects to find a princess living there.

Furthermore, just a few servants are permitted to enter.

Only old and nasty servants…who obediently follow the chief lady-in-waiting’s instructions.

“But they can’t enter my room without the authority of the chief lady-in-waiting.”

“Besides… for a group of servants to harass me…in a way, aren’t they risking their lives?”

“If they are found treating a princess like this, it could be punishable by death.”

“It wouldn’t happen unless someone very powerful was ordering them.”

“Are you saying it’s all the work of the chief lady-in-waiting?”

“Oh, no. No, it is my uncle who is giving the orders to the chief lady-in-waiting”.

“My uncle Edgar and Eliza are the ones who placed me in this situation.”

“Because the chief lady-in-waiting is one of my uncle’s mistresses, she must be carrying out his orders…”

“How… how do you know that?”

I’m wonder whether he was aware that the head mistress was one of my uncle’s mistresses.

But he probably didn’t expect a child like me to know such things.

“I hear them occasionally when I wash the bedding and clothing.”

“The maids gossip…they seem to know quite a lot of things.”

“I know more than twenty ladies and maidservants whom my uncle has meddled with, you know that to, don’t you?”

“Haa…so that’s how it is.” His Majesty sighed.

The servants who do the laundry are the lowest class of servants in the royal court.

It was usual to hear of someone who had recently fallen in love or about couples fighting with each other.

The servants think that I am servant’s child since I go to the laundry in my ragged  clothes.

I usually have no problem hearing rumors because they don’t mind my presence.

Perhaps this is why I can look at the situation objectively.

“I see what you’re saying. I also agree that they cannot be punished without proof.”

“But I really don’t want you to take it too hard.”

“I’ll put an escort for you so that we can keep an eye at you right away.”

“If you are in trouble, ask for help. I’ll tell them to show up.”

“Thank you very much.” I felt slightly relieved.

“Ah, I think the chief lady-in-waiting will probably persistently ask about me when you leave.”

“Please tell her that I returned to my room because I felt sleepy. “

His Majesty said, “…Alright. Then, go back to your room and rest.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

I bowed and left the audience room.

I felt a presence around me that I had not felt before. I wonder if they already put me under surveillance.

Thankfully, it seemed that more than one person had been assigned to me.

I could just see the chief lady-in-waiting coming back from a distance,

So I took a different route to avoid meeting her.

Although, I was willing to meet her and get abused for the guards to see,

As expected, I was exhausted and wanted to go my room and sleep.

I’m sure I’ll be called back for dinner in the evening, so I just want to get some rest.
